Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Ah yes exactly what we need, another pre-season of upheavel, really worked for the past 2 seasons that hasn't it? Would be interesting to find out how many players we have used since the start of last season (Paulo Sousa days) to now. Think we should pretty much keep the whole squad, bar Howard, Oakley, Berner who will probably retire and make 3 or 4 additions in key areas (Midfield) to build a consistent team capable of gaining promotion. Selling Wellens/Gally/Dyer would create more problems than it solves as we would need a 10 player turn around and come October we would be using the same bullshit excuses about needing time to gel Blah Blah Blah. But why would you keep players that have already proven they are not good enough?
MrSpaM Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Mills and Beckford will as NP wants to reduce the wage bill and get rid off all the highly expensive players that are underachieving. Getting rid of Beckford would be a MASSIVE mistake imo, no matter how much his wages are. If he stays with us theres no doubt in my mind he'd get 20+ goals next season
Babylon Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 But why would you keep players that have already proven they are not good enough? Who has proven they aren't good enough in your opinion?
Cropwellfox Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 As Kirtchandro said - no major cull this summer, I would imagine all contracted players will stick around and start pre season training unless bigger clubs come in - the two most possible departures Kasper and Sol - and maybe Pantsil and Moussa by mutual consent. Of those out of contract, all will probably be shown the door - Howard, Oakley, Berner, vassell, Tunchev, and a couple of the 1st / 2nd year pros. I'd expect only 4 or 5 at the most to come in with an emphasis on a smaller squad involving some of the youngsters currently out on loan. With luck the few that do come in will slot straight into the team, particularly LW and CM.
Zingari Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 we're crap away we're crap away we're crap awayyyyyyyyyyyyy Sorry Doris !!

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Who has proven they aren't good enough in your opinion? Wellens - Past it Oakley - Past it Howard - Past it Berner - Past it Peltier - Been found out recently, poor positionng has cost us a lot of goals recently Weale - Not good enough even as a back up. Gallagher - Too inconsistent. Dyer - Good player in league 1 but too ineffective in this division. Can not cross. Moussa - Not good enough for Championship top level Pantsil - Quite clearly does not want to be here and when he has played has been abysmal. Beckford - Does he really want to be here and more importantly can Pearson massage his ego enough to get him playing well. Waghorn - Cabn ot hit a cows arse with a banjo and the touch of Akinbiyi Johnson - Back to Man City, will never be a top level footballer again. Kennedy - Distinctly average. There are a lot of youngsters no nearer to the first team than they were at the start of the season too who I imagine will sooner rather than later be on their way. Forgive me if I have missed anyone but you get my point.
speedwayson Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 i would get rid of weale vassell to old moussa dyer Konchesky should of keep naughton i could see big steve going nigel got to get some decent qualty player and stop buying just good enough players take nug and beck they should be ripping up championship up we need a good fast winger like bale and lennon at tottenham
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 And the list above does not contain anyone else who may want to leave Beckford aside. Massive player upheaval on the cards again this summer. If we do not we will not be any further forward next season and Pearson will be sacked by October.

Think we can safely say in the main ,Np can spot a player . This time next year ....i predict we'll be on cloud nine & really going for it ! In the meantime .....
speedwayson Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 i would agree with a lot of what caveman said but you would have no team

Don't see how getting rid of 14 players would help us gain consistency, the single thing we have been lacking for the past 2 seasons. 7 of the players mentioned are currently in and around the first team so we would require atleast that many to replace them with, plus a couple more as our squad is thin as it is. There is nothing wrong with having players like Gally/Dyer/Waghorn etc as squad players, we can't have 25 first teamers all expexting to play every week.

Finnegan Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 I'm a tiny bit embarrassed to know where the thread title comes from. Mind you, I'd be a little bit MORE embarrassed to have named a thread that in the first place...

Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 But how will keeping them see us getting to the top of this division? By combining them with 4 or 5 astute signings by Pearson. From the previous list of players; Wellens, Gally, Dyer, Pelts, Pants, Beckford and Waghorn all have something to give to the squad over the course of the season, even if that be being just a bit part player.
Finnegan Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Your'e missus not putting out or something ??? Pulling your leg, son, calm down.

muzzy1981 Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 You can add Beckford to my list, always feels like a fall out or sending off is round the corner with him. League form needs to improve
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 17 February 2012 Author Posted 17 February 2012 Pulling your leg, son, calm down. Phew !! I was really worried for a nanosecond there !
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 And how many of the players you have mentioned do you think will be happy to play only bit parts next season? All of Nigel's 'Favourites' eg Gally, Wellens, Dyer, Waghorn will be happy to stay I would have thought. At the start of the season you would explain to these players that they aren't guranteed a start every week and it would be up to them as to whether they want to stay and fight for their place or move on, which would also create competition in the squad which is healthy to success.
dedlock Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 There are seven players out of contract this summer:Oakley,Howard,Vassell,Berner,Weale,Logan and Tunchev plus Johnson's loan ends. Listening to Andrew Neville's recent comments it is unlikely any or many will be here next season.
dobbylcfc Posted 17 February 2012 Posted 17 February 2012 Can't see huge changes myself mabye Howard, oakley,Berner,Tunchev, mousa,Weale possibly pantsil (mutual agreement) and Bamba going for a decent fee but that's about it Can't see huge changes myself mabye Howard, oakley,Berner,Tunchev, mousa,Weale possibly pantsil (mutual agreement) and Bamba going for a decent fee but that's about it
