NeilyBoy Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Following the Bristol match, there's a thread for those who still feel we'll make the play-offs. And somewhere to vent your steam. But what if you think "we can, but won't make the play-offs"? No bus for you. What if it doesn't grind your gears that we lost because, looking at our historic form, you were already well aware that we probably wouldn't cover ourselves in glory? What if you find yourself facepalming at some of the highly reactionary or biased comments that pop up so very often? Well here's the thread for you, because some people just see things how they are. Now bring on Reading where we'll draw or lose, and Brum where we'll draw or win and let's all look forward to a close battle at Chelsea.
Foxhateram Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 This bus or whatever is reeks of that old person smell, you know the type that always go "back in my day" or "Keep dreaming, Sunshine". I'm going back to my bus, its all rosey and blue over there.

I'm going back to my bus, its all rosey and blue over there. In all fairness, "back in my day" Leicester were in Europe and top 10 regulars, but this thread's definitely not about that. This is a place for people who feel like the only sober mind when it comes to following the Leicester of now.

This is a place for people who feel like the only sober mind when it comes to following the Leicester of now. Can you define sober mind for me please? It just seems like a pessimistic way of looking at things. I appreciate that Play off's are unlikely, I appreciate a Cup win a ridiculous really! However the point I make in the optimistic bus is that why moan on and on. Yes ranting after the game, and unpicking the negatives aspects provides good conversation and banter + debate. Excellent. I do that too, in fact I think it's great to air such frustration, but the problem with most on here is that it never stops. When we win, loads of people post and join my bus, when we lose a billion threads are created about how crap we are and the same negative features are regurgitated over and over again and every player is suddenly crap. It just gets on my wick how some people (not saying this is you) but some people dwell and do an half go on! Just air your frustrations discuss the game in the post match thread, pick the negatives, but please pick the positives as well. Then leave it alone and move on in expectation for the next game. That how it used to work in these parts. Some people just need to chill the FCUK out! Not aiming this at you mate btw, just airing my opinion on a general consensus of this place at the moment.
wellyfox Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Can I ask are we slating players for every little thing they do wrong. Are we going to hang some firing squad the rest and bring back Hume Fryatt and the like ??

NeilyBoy Posted 6 March 2012 Author Posted 6 March 2012 I don't enjoy moaners either - I just wish everyone saw what we do that's good and what we do that's bad for what it is. I'm not trying to moan about the Bristol match, I'm trying to point out that the moaners should've seen it coming and not be so bloody shocked. But I'm also trying to point out it isn't always rosy either - consider this a halfway thread. One for celebrating when it's appropriate, but not getting carried away, and for acknowledging when we aren't good enough without behaving like it's the end of the world.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 In all fairness, "back in my day" Leicester were in Europe and top 10 regulars, but this thread's definitely not about that. This is a place for people who feel like the only sober mind when it comes to following the Leicester of now. This will be my last post cos I'm leaving for now. A 'realistic' thread is all relative of course cos what's 'realistic' for some isn't for others. I'm gonna post my 'realistic' thoughts as I usually do and then scaddaddle into the wilderness. Some of the stuff on here this week has made me realise I've had enough at least for now. 1. We need a midfield tough bloke... Someone who can stop something like what happened this evening, from happening... Tough mentally and physically is what I'd like to see 2. There is no point in playing Jermaine Beckford if we are gonna play hoof ball... It won't work cos he's shite at keeping it. Either change the tactic or change the player, especially away from home. 3. We will lose at Chelsea.. 4. We need a more experienced and physically stronger right hand side. We concede too many goals down the right. 5. Drinkwater will be a great player for City. 6. We will miss the play offs this season. Pearson will spend over the summer and will then get ten games or so to get it right. 7. Happy Fox will continue to post nearly all day every day. 8. Stevie Synex and Freemans Wharfer will continue to post complete sense at nearly all times. Anyway, they are my 'realistic' thoughts... Take em or leave em and adios until the summer maybe. CCF...
Foxhateram Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 If we're not allowed to be pessimistic on your bus, you cannot bring that blind optimism into this one so get lost Surely I was pessimistic for part of that post? Is that not enough? Fine. Tonight we just did not set ourselves up well tactically. Bristol had a game plan, stuck to it, and played it well. We struggle against big men, and Stead happens to be big, physical and quick. It's no coincidence that before a random dip in form he was doing alright at the top of this league as a striker and bottom half of prem at one point. When we are pressurized we hoof, but we have no one who can win an aerial battle and so we therefore lose the ball and the attack comes back at us. In conclusion, we need to be bigger and stronger at the back for games like this cue Big sol (I hate saying that!) and we need a big man up front to hold the ball up and play in our quick strikers. Cue erm erm oh wait this is our problem. When teams come at us, we are great because it suites our style of play, as it creates space for us to pass into. When teams defend hard and sit back then we struggle. Fortunately however out next few games are against teams that will come at us, so more good results on the way I am sorry I just can't do it! I can't be negative about my beloved club without putting a positive spin in some form.

The second I read that I thought "this guy's gonna have some good points". You didn't disappoint. 1. Fully agree - I thought Danns might be able to provide that but he's proven to be a more attacking (and slightly less gifted) player than I thought he was. 2,4&6. Spot on. 3.I know we probably will lose, but we always play well against the teams that should beat us so we have the potentional ( ) to surprise them, especially when you consider Chelsea's season so far. 5. Wish I could say something on this but haven't seen much of the lad at all being unable to go to games. 7&8.

That is what people are doing. There are very few positives to come out of Bristol fvcking City doing the double over us. I don't see why we should gloss over it and try and be positive. I'd rather vent until I feel better. And if that means I go on and on, fine. At least it shows I give a shit. The optimistic bus is alright for a laugh but anyone who actually thinks we can make the play-offs is an idiot. There, I said it. I'll be there at the next home game (I aint forking out for a shitty trip to a place like Reading or anywhere like that) and I'll be behind the team. Even when no one around me is showing enthusiasm I'll try to keep the chants going. But this is the realist's thread and in reality, this team is average and is filled with a bunch of pathetic losers who have just conceded 3, yes that's THREE goals to Bristol bleeding City. It sounded like a drab, clueless performance. Realistically, we'll soldier on for the rest of this season, with a few more wins, some draws, and a few losses as well. We won't go on a good run and we won't start playing brilliant football. We probably won't beat Chelsea, I still think we'll beat Forest, and I still think Coventry will go down. Players will keep coming up with poor excuses and assuring us that we will get it right. As for next season, god knows, I don't want to think about it yet. But this season is a write off unless we beat Chelsea. So, looking forward to that, gonna be a great atmosphere and I don't think we'll get thrashed. Other than that, I'm not sure what positives you want me to come up with.
Foxhateram Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Fair play Kitch. Good post. I feel disapointed by tonights result as well. Especially considering it could be my last game this season. I have highlighted above why we lost tonight, which is much the same as what people are putting in the post match thread. Fair do's. I have no problem with the way you just expressed your opinions. I do have a problem with people starting threads about players or contantly blaming a scape goat for a poor TEAM performance. You havent done the above and so therfore fair play. Onwards and upwards. Apologies for over enthusiasm earlier. I had, had a few.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Half full or half empty ? We blew it in December when we drop at least 10 points. I will buy another bottle for next season and see if that one go's off so quick, I think this one was corked and overpriced any way. However I will fill up the glass for Chelsea and enjoy it no matter what happens. KEEP THE FAITH OLD SCHOOL RULE Now where's my meds

On that note I'd like to propose an FA cup coalition with the optimistic bus. Chelsea still aren't wowing the footballing world and this will be our best (and perhaps only) chance of beating them for some time. COYB We will travel behind in the realistic bus though:
