Defensive myth.....!

We are poor at defending AS A TEAM....

Thrac is quite right... Attack as a team, defend as a team.

The attacking players provide the back five with not enough support so that they are put under too much pressure, too much of the time.

We need a tougher, more physically mobile midfield and the strikers tracking back more when needed. Also, to hold the ball up and to keep it when needed.

You can pick any of the defenders and accuse them of being the weak link. But youd be missing the point IMO.... They don't get enough support, cos we don't defend well enough collectively.

i agree , peltier for instance when he comes forward leaves a gaping hole thats been exploited so many times , it cant all be peltiers fault , somebody should be covering surely. Either that or he stays back.

I personally think we let both Fernandes and Abe go too easily, Fernandes in particular without ever having a chance. We really do need a tougher midfield in terms of winning the ball back and protecting the midfield, even if it is just having a body in there to block space. Our defence was at its strongest when we played the narrow midfield with Abe and Fernandes in it, coincidence?

The defence is tough one because out of our central defenders, I can't really pick a pair I will be confident in and thats part of the problem. Individually they have all had good games but none seem to be able to form a reliable partnership. Everyone is calling for Mills to return, forgetting the fact he was dropped because of his part in a poor defence. Maybe he deserves a second chance.

Pearson needs to choose 2 defenders he thinks will still be here next season (if possible) and play them for the rest of the games and see if they can form a understanding to build on in the summer.

I have faith that Pearson will make us harder to beat next season, just like he did with us last time and with Hull, unfortunately it will mean a less attacking flair and whether it will give us a better chance of something next year is debatable.

Pearson will identify the problem areas, just like he did at Hull when he signed the likes of McKenna and Olofinjana. the type of player we're missing here.
