Captain... Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 A friend of mine is organising this, I know there are a few writers on here, anybody fancy contributing, or would just be interested in going, the details are down below: FLASH FICTION CURVEBALL Friday 18th May at Curve Are you a writer? Here is an exciting opportunity to share your writing/ storytelling. Using the Curve’s circular meeting area 12 (or so) writers will be stationed at strategic points to read or tell their stories to theatre goers and members of the public, before the Curve’s production of Wah! Wah! Girls. Flash Fiction (250 to 500 words) or narrative poems, extracts etc – the themes are LOVE A Deep Secret DREAM The aim is to start about 6.15ish until the show begins at 7.30. We also hope to use the Curveball stage after Wah! Wah! Girls has started so that the readers & friends can hear other stories. This depends on getting the OK from Curve’s health & safety people. Unfortunately there is no fee for readers, but we are negotiating with Curve how readers can benefit from sharing their stories. Daggers Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Is it compulsory to flash while reading or could one simply read in the nude?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 I'd be interested, but I'm already doing stuff that evening.
Captain... Posted 29 April 2012 Author Posted 29 April 2012 Is it compulsory to flash while reading or could one simply read in the nude? I believe that you have to flash at least once every 100 words, but no more than every 50 words or it becomes gratuitous and a sex offence, and it causes a draft. I'd be interested, but I'm already doing stuff that evening. Shame, but get in touch anyway, he will hopefully be organising other events and is a part of other Leicester writers groups.
Rincewind Posted 29 April 2012 Posted 29 April 2012 Sounds good but I'm not really a performing writer. I do have a story that I once reworked (attempted) into a sketch. Don't know how it would work without props. It would need a narrator and two actors. 4 if its done to the end. Also have my Mother sonnet. I suppose thats about love. It would be exposure if its only a flash. Just looked again is that 3 themes? My sonnet might fit wear especially as its a theayre. Just need to practice my oratory skills unless subs are allowed. I wonder if they'll allow you to grab a member of the public and ask them to do it.
