Corky Posted 10 July 2012 Posted 10 July 2012 Sadly, Mark Boucher has been forced to retire after a freak injury to his eye in the warm-up match for South Africa against Somerset. Boucher played 147 Test matches and 295 One-Day Internationals for his country and claimed a record 555 dismissals in Test cricket. He also took 425 dismissals in ODI's. A very sad way for a great career to end. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/18778820
goose2010 Posted 10 July 2012 Posted 10 July 2012 looked nasty, said that he had tore the white part of his eye last night and needed surgery on it, I think it was the bails that hit him. The thought of eye surgery makes me feel quizzy at the best of times!
Guest MattP Posted 10 July 2012 Posted 10 July 2012 Legend of the sport and one of the best keepers who ever lived, such a shame he couldn't get to 150 matches and a terrible way to see it end.
Tielemans63 Posted 10 July 2012 Posted 10 July 2012 Terrible way for a great career to end. Quality player, SA will miss him.
SharpeFox Posted 10 July 2012 Posted 10 July 2012 As a wicket-keeper myself, he was a great inspiration growing up. He ends on 999 international dismissals (Tests &ODIs). Great, great shame. I hope it doesn't end up like the great Gordon Banks.
