Leicestershire assistant chief constable found dead...

And how can you miss the point by such a mile?

Can you not understand that it's not that I care about every death, it's the fact I think it's inappropriate to joke about a man who you don't know and who hasn't been proven guilty of any crimes other than lying about a speeding ticket... and to call him a willy puller, pathetic and selfish?!

I guess I missed your point either

1) because I'm too stupid to understand it

or

2) because you didn't make it very well.

Now with regard to your re-explained point. It's inappropriate to joke IN YOUR OPINION. Many if not most jokes are about things that someone will find inappropriate.

I must admit I don't really care whether you think my actions appropriate or not and we can move on.

I will take it all back if he is found to be innocent of all charges brought against him, but normally charges are not brought without evidence, especially not against a policeman, and normally innocent men don't kill themselves the day before the hearing.

I'm in a cynical mood and not going to lose any sleep over the loss of this man, I will save my sympathy for the family he has left behind and the poor sods that had to witness and deal with the aftermath of his chosen exit.

Complete agreement

Well ok, but I had a colleague who killed himself because his baby son died suddenly and he was unable to cope with the loss. Does that make him selfish and undeserving of sympathy.

I accept the different circumstances but anyone who reaches the point of taking their own life must be worthy of some sympathy

Completely different scenario. Of course the route to the suicide and the form of suicide make a difference.

I feel sympathy for your colleague but even more for their partner who had to then handle this as well as the death of their son, I would also feel sorry for anyone who killed him (if someone did)

To be fair, this was exactly how most of us who knew him, felt

Calling people selfish for killing themselves just seems utterly retarded to me.

If you want to feel sorry for the train driver then that's fair enough.

Suicide is the product of trauma.

Think about what it would take for you to seriously consider taking your own fvcking life.

Think about what horror would impel you to take steps that no sane person would tread.

A traffic offence does not justify the death of someone regardless of what you think of the police.

Get a fvcking grip.
