ADK Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 To be honest i'm not sure whether FPP is good for fans. It means even if you have a foreign billionaire, the club still needs to milk it's fans dry of cash.
Dan Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 Should've known clubs would instantly turn to the fans admission fee before they dare consider cutting the players wages.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 FFP is a terrible idea. Kills competitiveness by maintaining the status quo and the fans have to pay for it all. Hope this is rejected by the Premier League clubs. Here is a good article about FFP - Financial Fair Play plot will ruin the Premier League
Hollism Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 I think it's a good thing to be honest, when you look at all the jobs and businesses that will be (and have been) affected when a club's financial naivety catches up with them. In, the best case scenario, FFP does the total opposite, encourages clubs to make money in as many different ways as possible, and creates more jobs.
Corky Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 Brad on here has already criticised them for their ticket prices.
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 It needs to be combined with other rules, a lot of people seem worried by the possible price hike that will incur as clubs seek to boost their revenue. Some sanctions probably need to be introduced to address the issues that may arise as a result of FFP.

True but fans are partly to blame for demanding instant success and better players, you only have to look at Foxestalk to see the demand for managers to be sacked before they've had a chance to prove themselves, players that are not 100% perfect being vilified and fans demanding that the club spends more than it earns on replacing those players with higher waged ones. No one wants to see their team lose but logic and common sense often does a runner.
acooling08 Posted 23 January 2013 Posted 23 January 2013 You can't cap players wages though, then all the best players in the country will go abroad. Difficult situation really.

Without even reading the article this is what I've always thought about it. You can't cap players wages though, then all the best players in the country will go abroad. Difficult situation really. Does that really matter though? As long as it's a level playing field the leagues will still be competitive and entertaining. Plus if a major country like ours had the balls to adopt a wage cap who's to say others wouldn't follow suit? It's not like our clubs are the only ones in a financial mess.
Dan Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Exactly. I always said I'd back FFP if it was going to be taken to in the right manner by clubs, but by the looks of things, that's becoming a pipe dream, sick of shite mentality from all top clubs. Oh no doubt about it, I think the instant success demand is something that's becoming typical of fans today and I actually think a lot of it is down to the pricing and the hype itself. It's a horrible vicious cycle.
MooseBreath Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Something like the ffp is needed but why they are limiting owner investment I really don't know. If it works, all it will do is give an unassailable advantage to the clubs with the biggest following. Over the course of a couple of decades this will only become more deeply entrenched. You'll be able to predict league positions with pin point accuracy based on last years revenue. There will be no competition at all, the landscape will become barren, and the sport will be ruined. And all for what? So a handful of big clubs don't have to worry about a smaller club being taken over by a rich owner and then the bigger club losing their champions league place? Sorry arsenal, sorry Liverpool, yes we all want to see the same top 4 forever, of course, we'll knock man city and Chelsea down a peg or two to give you a better chance. Great. What a wonderful improvement.

BHAFC Braders Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Makes sense overall in terms of the amount of times you see clubs spend beyond their means and end up in administration , however the ticket pricing is silly enough already , I think most Albion fans are expecting a rise this season on Season Tickets but it'll be interesting to see what that magic number is. Samrahs got it spot on , the last thing the club needs right now is to kill the golden goose , Barbers a business man , someone who deals with marketing etc... He's done it with the FA , He's done it with Spurs , He's done it with the Whitecaps - now he's got to try and bring in revenue first and foremost that way , the clubs worked bloody hard to rebuild the lost generation from the end of Goldstone/Priestfield/Withdean years to throw it away by pricing fans out.
MooseBreath Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Wasn't that the historical situation before the PL and Sky money took over? Not really, that was pre-commercialisation of the game. Things have changed so much that you can't just hit a button and expect to get right back where you were.
