49er Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Mark Bright - two crackiing goals against Everton on the first day of the season when Lineker made his league debut for the toffees, but then he wasn't given enough time. Jo Waters - his two goals against QPR in the FA Cup quarter final is part of City folklore. Just wanted him to stay and establish himself, but never happened. Dave Buchanan - great start for the youngster. At the time he was more of a prospect than Lineker. Paul Kitson - wrong to let him go to Derby and get Ormondroyd and Gee in exchange Mark Davies - would have been great to have signed him instead of Bolton Jim Melrose - why, oh why did Milne swap him for Tommy English?
49er Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Johan Cruyff - just wish he had come to us and made his debut against Forest instead of going to Spain
CKB Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Oh Matt Mills for sure..................................................................
smudger63 Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 With Futacs finally playing two (I think) full games for City now, and not having the best of games the other night, it got me thinking... Which past players would you say weren't really given a chance at City; then we came to regret it somewhat as they turned out good etc. I always remember Pleat buying Jimmy Quinn - who had been the Second Division's top scorer in 1987/88. He quickly got shot of him in a swap to Bradford for Mick Kennedy- woohoo !! Quinn was always a class act. Who else has there been?? Oh and Ashley Ward should have had more of a chance too. Yep i remember that too. Quinn scored shed loads of goals, then he comes here, and Pleat being the tactical genius that he thought he was, spent the majority of the time playing him on the wing!
