Internazionale have announced that they are reconsidering their decision to cancel their tour of England.

The Serie A giants had announced on Saturday that they would not fulfil their four-match friendly schedule against Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Norwich City and Portsmouth because of security fears.

The Nerazzurri were concerned about making the trip to the UK following the recent terrorist attacks in London, with the club's players having expressed particular fears over their proposed trip.

Their decision brought widespread condemnation from the clubs affected, with Palace chairman Simon Jordan telling Sky Sports News that he would take legal action against the Giuseppe Meazza outfit for their decision to pull out.

Yet, in a remarkable turn of events, Inter released another statement late on Saturday evening that stated they would reconsider their original decision to pull out of the tour.

"After the misunderstanding which has arisen following the cancellation of the team's tour of England, so as not to further stretch the already severely occupied security services, the club's ownership have spoken with president Giacinto Facchetti and head coach Roberto Mancini and is examining the possibility of finding a positive solution to the matter and be coherent with the will of the initial project." read the Inter statement on the club's official website.

Reports in Italy suggest that Inter owner Massimo Moratti is trying to reconfirm their tour as originally planned.

Probably worked out how much it's going to cost them both in terms of compensation and PR

True, but they still may not escape a lawsuit if the Leicester game doesn't go ahead (which is the case as it stands now).

Unfair on Boston I know but I'm sure that the club will look at a comparisson between a small UK lower division team and a top club in both Italy & Europe

I would not be at all surprised if Boston is rearranged (or even scrapped completely) to get the big showcase back on

Also look at the same thing from fans perspective - We've already heard plenty of outcry from people píssed off with the Inter cancellation - By contrast if Boston was cancelled instead how many would complain? (and how many of those would live outside of Lincolnshire?)

Sports minister Richard Caborn said Inter Milan will fly to England on Sunday for their pre-season tour.

Inter were criticised for scrapping the four-game tour over security fears, but Caborn has since held talks with Italian sports minister Mario Pescante.

"Pescante spoke to the Italian football association and they made representations to Inter," said Caborn.

"They came back saying all things being equal the tour would be on this morning. They're flying out on Sunday."

Inter are scheduled to play Leicester at the Walkers Stadium on Monday, Palace on Wednesday and Norwich on Friday night at Carrow Road.

They will then rounding off their brief tour at Portsmouth on Sunday.

Leicester were investigating the possibility of compensation given Inter's cancellation would have cost them over £250,000.

Portsmouth had already sold 12,500 tickets for their game and Crystal Palace had organised the fixture to celebrate their centenary.

All four clubs expressed their anger at Inter's decision, with Norwich's chief executive Neil Doncaster accusing them of "giving in to terrorists".

We'll lose in excess of £250,000, which, for a Championship club, is quite a lot of money

But the Italians insisted it was one big misunderstanding and they had taken their initial stance so as not to "further stretch the already severely occupied security services".

And Leicester chief executive Tim Davies said on Sunday he had not given up hope of Monday's game taking place.

"At the moment, we are assuming it's off but we are doing the best to get the match on," he told Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

Davies said it had been difficult making contact with officials at Inter but hopes to convince them that security is in place to ensure their trip is as safe as possible.

If the match does not go ahead, Davies said the Foxes could seek damages from Inter of around £250,000.

Palace chairman Simon Jordan and Portsmouth counterpart Milan Mandaric have already registered their unhappiness with Inter.

"You have to take into consideration people's safety but they are not going to be in the West End (of London)," said Jordan.

"They could have flown into Gatwick Airport and stayed in Croydon, miles away from anywhere considered to be a danger area."

Mandaric added: "No directive has come from the Home Office advising it is unsafe to travel and Portsmouth is a provincial city with lovely people.

"We are sad as a club about this decision but for me the real sorrow is for our fans who have looked forward and paid for this curtain raiser relishing the chance of a big Italian side coming to Fratton Park."

Culture secretary Tessa Jowell said Inter's decision to pull out would mystify football fans.

"Inter Milan's decision will, I'm sure, baffle millions of football fans who will be undeterred in supporting their teams on the terraces when the new season starts," she said.
