Guest foxestalkisfullofidiots Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 Went to the game on Saturday and I thought there was a couple of Derby players that left there foot in at times and when schlupp was through the young lad freeman took one for the team by tripping him, Leeds were the same with loads of time wasting tactics too, I don't want to see us cheat but would be nice to see King take someone out with a tackle!
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 I don't think we do, we need to find ways of playing around these teams. I do agree that it's the nastier teams that we have difficulty with, when anyone closes us down we struggle to play our football and our attacks break down. We need to move the ball quicker and players have to give the man on the ball more options, otherwise we're going to lose the ball too often and we'll continue to lose against low quality teams. I expect defeat against Barnsley unless we're able to alter how we pass the ball.

The alternative, that many have called for, is to play a hard, defensive-minded midfielder to counter the tough teams, but we have excelled when we have played bright, attacking football. If someone has to make way for a different type of midfielder then that compromises our best attacking formation and style.. The hard teams have managed to disrupt our play, but to counter it we need the team to show that bit more awareness, to make every effort to ensure that each man in possession has 2 easy passing options, so that we can maintain possession. For example, wingers could be more alert to the need to get in closer to the man in possession when necessary, to give him a pass; or strikers need to drop more often to make a pass possible. Well, it's a good theory ...
AKCJ Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 I agree with this. Timewasting and dirty, 'clever' tackles need to be implemented to our game. It is something that makes me despise other teams but hey, if you can't beat them, join them.

I was raging on Saturday when Freeman tripped Schupp he had no intention of getting the ball but Schupp was our biggest threat against Derby and they knew it, I just doubt if it was the other way round would we have done that?

I'm not asking us play a different way, just more improve that side of the game, I have loved some of the football we have played this season but Derby just seem to want the 2nd and 50/50 balls more than we did, I'm not asking for leg breakers but to just be a bit more competitive in midfield and show we won't be bullied
eye666 Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 But I thought we hated players like Wellens and Danns...
crisp packet Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 U mention king? ( o.p) I wish after he had been nailed, in a tackle ?AGAIN Can't remember the last but there was one?!?!? He would make a meal of it? None of our players appeal for things ? Only Drinky We are very naive ...
