Alexikokopops Posted 28 July 2005 Posted 28 July 2005 It's true, I ended up setting off a major security alert at RAF Waddington (the big airbase in Lincolnshire with all the AWAKS). They thought we were going to bomb it, it was on full alert. Fun day at work.

Alexikokopops Posted 28 July 2005 Author Posted 28 July 2005 Ha, it was funny. I'm working as a binman over summer, and we were picking up a missed bin from the camp. We pulled up at the barrier, and one of the guards came out, asked us what we were doing, blah blah, and it turned out the person at the house hadn't phone the guardhouse to tell them to let us in. Cus we were blocking the road the guards let us through the barrier and told us to park in a layby right nearby and contact the house and tell them to ring the guardhouse. We rang, but there was no answer so we u-turned and drove away, thinking that was that. 2 hours later we got a phonecall from the depot asking us where we were and what we'd done to Waddo. Turns out one guard was speaking to a car and the other with the gun wasn't looking, so they hadn't seen us leave and raised the alarm, telling them to try and find a "yellow and white NKDC [North Kesteven District Council] box-van". NKDC and the RAF aren't too pleased with us, but it was hillarious, I'll tell you that for free.
