Knighton Matt Posted 5 August 2005 Posted 5 August 2005 What does everyone think to this new suggestion me and C-man have thought of? :If someone predicts 0-0, and it is 0-0, they only really predict the correct match outcome, and correct scoreline. Presently, they would get those points, the points for the correct scorers, and all the bonus points, so would end up with 11 which is too much for really only predicting the score. If things stay as they are, people will constantly predict 0-0 every game just so that they get loads of points when it does happen. Therefore, we suggest that if you predict a 0-0 outcome, and it is 0-0, you only get the points for the correct outcome, and correct scoreline, so only getting 3 points overall. What do you think to this idea? And over the next day or two, we will be creating a thread which will be locked which will include the final rules and we may also put the updated tables in there as well. 147473 I think predicting 0-0 should get the maximum number of points it would be unfair otherwise. To be fair if someone predicts 0-0 every game they are not going to end up with a lot of points or maybe you could put a cap on the number of consecutive 0-0's predicted (say 3) by each individual to penalise negative predicting?
Blue Arrow Posted 5 August 2005 Posted 5 August 2005 I have changed my name...i am number 5 in league 2.

Predicting 0-0 for the sake of it is a bit stupid really, and I would hope people wouldn't do that just to maximise their chances of getting more points. I'd prefer it if it was kept simple and a correct 0-0 prediction got full points. But that's just my opinion.
Anish Posted 5 August 2005 Posted 5 August 2005 Hey guys, I had completely forgetten Sheff had dropped the running of this comp! I am looking forward to you 2 guys hosting it! Some of the rules seem a little hard to get used to, but I'll learn, and I might have to start doing my homework on opposition players, I don't really specialise in knowing many of em .By the way I'm no longer True Blue Matt - so if ya could change me to Delboy so I can predict away that'd be marvellous , Cheers boys! 149391 And there I was thinking I ran it last season.

If we had it how you want, it someone predicted for example, Leicester 1-1 Sheffield United with Nalis and Connolly scorers, and this happens, they would get the same amount of points as someone just saying 0-0, which is unfair. If we kept it as we have at the minute and not allow bonus points, it would be a lot fairer.
