C-man Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 City Fan and I have decided to change the rules and the format of the Foxestalk Prediction League for the coming season. The current point scoring will be replaced by the following: - 1 points for a correct match outcome. - 2 points for the correct scoreline. - 1 points for the correct first Leicester Goalscorer. - 2 points for the correct first opposition Goalscorer. - 3 bonus points for getting 3 of the 4 predictions above correct. - 5 bonus points for getting all 4 of the predictions above correct. Secondly, this is the bigger plan which would include the above scoring: There will be a league system introduced. Premiership, Championship, League One, League Two and Conference if needed. The people who finished 1 to 15 in last years competition will be placed in the top Premiership, 16-30 in the Championship, and 31-45 in League One. League One will also have dynamite_foxes in to replaced MON who has left the board i believe. All new predictors will be placed in League Two. If there are over 60 predictors, the rest will be placed in the Conference division. Each month, the top 3 predictors will be promoted, and the bottom 3 predictors will be relegated. After each relegation and promotion is settled, the scores will go back to zero, but an overall score will be kept. The person who is top of the Premiership after the last game of the season will be crowned champion. There will also be winners for the Championship, League One and League Two. Additionally, the total score will be kept and the person with the most total points will be made the Overall champion. Thoughts and queries over the new format will be gratefully recieved.

filbertway Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 Sweet this sounds very good, and i'm in the premier league
Alexikokopops Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 Soudns good Although if we were doing average points per game I'd be up there in teh Premiership Also, I assume that if you're promoted then you get to keep the amount of points you were promoted with.
davieG Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 Any chance of coming up with a 'unique' name for this prediction league so as not to confuse it with Mr C's online foxestalk prediction league remember some of us are entering our second childhood and get confused easily. Maybe something like the: Forum PL or City PL or Filbert PL or CC PL (C-Man & City Fan) Perhaps a bit more impressive.
City Fan Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 Also, I assume that if you're promoted then you get to keep the amount of points you were promoted with. 146333 No that wouldn't work. At the start of each month after promotion and relegation has been settled, scores go back to zero. However we will keep track of how many points each user gets all together throughout the season so we can maybe produce another table at the end of the season to see who got the most points altogether. But that doesn't count.

Matt Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 GET IN! Just made it into the premiership after last season! Bottom at Christmas then just made it into the prem! Woohoo!
shen Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 No that wouldn't work. At the start of each month after promotion and relegation has been settled, scores go back to zero. If so, it seems a bit pointless to be top of the 'premier league' all months other than the last. Surely the points should stack up no?...
C-man Posted 29 July 2005 Author Posted 29 July 2005 Yes but Shen, the overall score will also be as important. At the end, there will be a Premiership winner, a Championship winner, a League One winner, a League Two winner and an Overall winner. So it is as important to collect points throughout the season
filbertway Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 In theory then someone in league1 could end up with more points than someone in the premiership . Why not start with everyone in one league then split it up into leagues after one month? If 5 peoples scores are better in the championship than 5 in the league then 5 go up and 5 go down?
Bert Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 i amtoptheleague say i amtoptheleague 146502 Not for Long you wont be!! Correct me if im wrong but the most points you can get for one game is 14 points?
filbertway Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 Not for Long you wont be!! Correct me if im wrong but the most points you can get for one game is 14 points? 146540 the most you can get is 11 isnt it?
Knighton Matt Posted 29 July 2005 Posted 29 July 2005 League 1 looks a little weak for my liking I'd prefer more of a challenge if possible...
C-man Posted 30 July 2005 Author Posted 30 July 2005 the most you can get is 11 isnt it? 146542 Correct League 1 looks a little weak for my liking I'd prefer more of a challenge if possible... 146548 Should've done better last season shouldnt you? Besides, you've got me to beat!
C-man Posted 30 July 2005 Author Posted 30 July 2005 Welcome to the forum Mikey Go into the sheffield united prediction thread and predict

He then (most likely) becomes the Championship winner whereas he IMO clearly deserves to be Premier League champion. I think it's a good idea, but I would like it if everyone's total would be posted as well (next to the league table or something) to determine who was effectively the best predictor during the season.
Katy Posted 31 July 2005 Posted 31 July 2005 Katassi = League 2 Looks like you have a lot of work on your hands here guys - Good Luck with it all
