Retaining possesion

It is clear that the quality of football at the top end of the championship has improved greatly. The successful teams are those who can play neat possession football against top half teams, whilst having the determined and physical players to grind out results against scrappy sides.

The playoff performances have shown that we have some determined individuals which is important, however, it is the ability to keep possession that has let us down, we aren't that far off being a great side just short of a few technically better players.

Wood, Nuge, Dyer, Schlupp, De Laet, Konch give the ball away far too much and don't allow play to flow. These areas needed addressing next season imo.

We don't seem to have as technically good players as Watford did. We did under Sven though.

What's the answer?

Our tactics were fvcking awful today. Ugly, boring and horrible to watch. I lost track of the number of times Schlupp needlessly hoofed it forward to absolutely nobody today. Horrid.

Watford, on the other hand, were brilliant on the ball. They had a mixture of flair, short passes and effective long balls. Something we couldn't do. I do miss the days when we played neat, passing football.

We really failed to keep the ball when Watford put us under pressure today - constantly gave it away with sloppy passes. Probably agree - players just aren't good enough.

Read what you have written, I think the answer maybe there.................manager & players!!!

Pearson went to his roots, playing a battling, second ball tactic.....if we had the same under invested team we had 3 years ago then fair enough but this was unacceptable!!
