Guest Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Radical thought; "All local public transport should be free" - discuss! Would be quite happy to see that happen but it'd mean subsidising it with some form of increase in tax somewhere no? They certainly should at very least be cheaper, more frequent and run for longer hours.
brockmyster Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 £2.50 for a single on this route, £4.20 day pass, no return ticket, these are the things stopping people using buses not the lack of ****ing wi-fi
MooseBreath Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Radical thought; "All local public transport should be free" - discuss! Someone has to pay for it so it can't ever be free. I think letting the people actually using the service pay for it the fairest idea. But if it was all bought and paid for by the tax payer I'm sure you'd see a huge rise in people taking buses and trains.
Zingari Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 I'm fairly sure local buses were free in Nottingham for a while at least . i think it was around the late 70's but i'm not dead sure about it
Tincy Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Can't wait to try this out Monday, as use that bus route everyday for work
Tincy Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Not bad, look very smart inside and out, the seats are very comfortable, only annoying thing is there is a screen that tells you what stop we are approaching gets very annoying
danny. Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 these don't look bad actually, I'm just about to move to a place along this route so will give it a go - £45/month seems a really decent price compared to driving in/parking every day.

This should be in the bargains thread!!!
danny. Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 no, £45 a month *is* to share a vehicle with the proletariat
separator Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Bring back conductors! The new Routemaster buses in London do have "conductors", although there job doesn't involve selling tickets. They just man the back door when its in use (daytime only). Anyone can do that job, even Boris... f
