The Price of Success

Very good that Chris. I'd question the bit about her race or gender but I agree with all.

I'm in the minority who didn't enjoy "AGUEROOOOOO". Well I did to an extent, I thought it was a truly incredible moment which you'll probably never ever see again, but in the bigger picture? Bad day for football. I've got more time for Man Utd who actually built up their success over the years through hard graft and an excellent youth system than I have for a club who've been literally bankrolled to success. Man Utd under Fergie were very easy to dislike, but is he seriously a bigger evil to the game than sugar daddies? Not for me and I think people's hatred of Fergie/Man Utd clouded what was a very dark day for the game. I expect some stick for this but I just cannot under any circumstances to bring myself to be happy for a club absolutely rankrolled to success and I wouldn't get the same satisfaction if King Power made us a powerhouse either.

I used to love watching man u back in the Busby days but grew to dislike them under fergie certainly not due to their success but because of the massive hypocrisy of fergie.

I also think quite a few people welcome man city's success, despite how it was achieved because they simple get bored with the same teams winning things. You only have to look at how popular Spurs have become as they look to break the domination of the 'big' four. I'd say there are as many 'haters' of Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool and Liverpool are not exactly successful these days.

I'm sure if there was a truly level playing field then a lot of the hatred for these clubs would dissipate.

That Aguero moment isn't the greatest moment I've ever seen since I've been watching football, but it is was a great moment I doubt we will see again. One of those moments that makes you fall in love with football, whether it's the first game you've seen or the 100th.

I'm not one for 'hating' that moment. Manchester City arn't the first to spend millions and millions (look at Chelsea) and they probably won't be the last. Manchester United were spending big before City, they just didn't do it in one massive lump like City did. In my life, United have paid ridiculous money for Veron, Ferdinand, Berbatov etc... In fact, when Arsenal used to challenge for the title, Wenger would only spend little, if not any, where as United would buy a £20million player at least, every summer.

I don't dislike Manchester United though. When I was at school, the plastics would call Leicester rubbish, that used to annoy me regardless of whether it was true or not. The funniest thing I've found is that I can walk around Manchester and not see a single person with United on, but then I'll come back home for the summer or whatever and people will be wearing shirts! I don't take a particular dislike to United or City though, in fact when I'm at Uni they are my local teams lol

Arsenal were always my favourite team to watch. They still play good football now, but ten years ago or whatever, their side was the best - Pires, Vieira, Henry, Bergkamp, Cole - the way they played counter attacking football was excellent. Still the best team I've seen (including Madrid and Barcelona in our two friendlies).

If I had to choose to sign for one of the top four (like Hazard did), I'd go for Manchester United no doubt. They have dominated the 'Premier League era' and will continue to do so, even though I'd like to see Liverpool win the Premier League.

The Aguero moment for me was good, but most people enjoyed it because they stopped Man Utd winning the title. Now, I've a soft spot for United but (and don't get me wrong they've spent) but Man City came from being a top 10 premiership club to winning it simply because they've been able to buy.

Man Utd are still in some ways sitting on the foundations of what Sir Alex has built.

Good read apart from the race point. I've been to over twenty tennis events and to think that a person wouldn't be being supported or actively resented because of their colour is an absolutely absurd, bigoted and insulting suggestion.

Astonishing to compare Djokovic and Williams in terms of 'similar behaviour' as well. One is arguably the worlds most gentlemanly sportsman. The other has been disqualified and penalised numerous times and has threatened to kill line judges on court.

I have no problem with the QPR fans, those genuine City fans deserved that moment. Thr thought of all the plastic United fans up and down the country crying is terrific. Had it been Leicester and we stayed up I would have done the same as the QPR lot.
