The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 It's coming very close to the start of the season now, we all know how we're always branded (wrongly except possibly whilst Sven was here) as big spenders by others. After currently signing no one as yet this pre season, let's keep a log of where and who calls us 'big spenders Leicester' throughout the course of next season!
newbie123 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 posted this on twitter earlier... "Forest have been spending stupid. Leicester haven't signed anyone. any money says that they will still be calling us big spending Leicester" @LCFC_1884
cc_star Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 We spend more than almost all other clubs in the Football League every single minute of every single day Transfer fee is just one part of a club's spending, wages are usually the real killer We're spending so much on wages we can't sign a single player, because we're already over the ceiling that other clubs are trading quite successfully under This is despite relatively large support for the Football League, despite a robust retail operation and some possible international fans/income that hardly any other club in the division has we're still spending more than we make + the further maximum owner investment (debt) of £6m for the coming season, spending so much so we can't even give players away without it costing us & we'll be stuck with having to loan them out paying a portion of their wages just to get some of their wages off the books Like it or not, we're big spenders, huuuuuge spenders in fact, obviously not QPR - but we're spending massively on the likes of Wellens, Gallagher, Danns, SSL, Schmeichel, Konchesky, King, Schlupp "Big Spending Leicester" is here to stay until Pearson can complete the second part of his project, a second part he now has to compete with one hand tied behind his back.

I realise this. However, how much did we/will we end up paying for Knockaert? £2.5m was it? Isn't he rumoured to be on £5k a week? My point is not all these players are on incredibly high wages, certainly perhaps a lot less than what fans of other clubs would expect for someone as influential as Knockaert to be on. A lot of the media don't like to recognise that we got Nugent on a free though admittedly he's reported to be one of our higher earners. edit- I don't believe for one minute that Pearson's old guard are anywhere near what you'd call our highest earners. Same goes for Westley

Same goes for Westley Knockaert, Big Wes are likely to be sustainable so is carrying a few high earners like Schmeichel, Nugent obviously (although whether paying a GK a wage of 3-5 players is a good use of resources is debatable) Pearson's 'old guard' unfortunately will be on wages incompatible with our position as they were given new contracts in Sven-era along with likes of Konchesky, SSL, Danns are certainly not worth their deals and will cost us a good chunk to even move on, never mind retain. This is the situation which means strengthening the squad is almost impossible.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Author Posted 20 July 2013 No footballer is worth such wages but konchesky is not in the same bracket as Danns and SSL
Stadt Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Most of our players on big bucks can't justify why they are being paid so much that's the most frustrating thing for me.
allen10 Posted 21 July 2013 Posted 21 July 2013 Does anybody know if the owners have invested in the form of equity within the rules of FFP this season? They've already invested a lot in the form of loans, granted, and bought the stadium, which is now owned by King Power??? If the owners were to invest in the form of equity, wouldn't this go along way to us conforming with FFP? After all, they're now billionaires, so what's a few million!?
