Rincewind Posted 21 August 2013 Author Posted 21 August 2013 Just realised the trial is still on so don't know how far we can go with comments. I'll stay neutral for now.
Guest MattP Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Just realised the trial is still on so don't know how far we can go with comments. I'll stay neutral for now. lol They have pleaded guilty!
Rincewind Posted 21 August 2013 Author Posted 21 August 2013 From a blog called Got News Wire. It's got an advert for the Highcross. Other sites nick stories from the Daily's although if you do that you have to name your source. Bankrupt tycoon VS penniless ex-wife
Guest MattP Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 I'll have a read later. Off to watch One flew over the cuckoos nest.
Rincewind Posted 21 August 2013 Author Posted 21 August 2013 lol They have pleaded guilty! OK then. BTW next Tuesday at radio Leicester the media training session is on media law. What can be said online in blogs etc. 2-3pm Not sure if it would interest one of the mods jf they have time. I know we have a lawyer amongst our midst but some one well qualified from a top paper is taking the session. I'll try and find a bigger variety of stories and sources. Seeing that blog has given me ideas.
AoWW Posted 21 August 2013 Posted 21 August 2013 Perhaps I'll start a new thread each time I want to say something to an individual poster.

Rincewind Posted 21 August 2013 Author Posted 21 August 2013 I'm only teasing. I know Can I just point out to anyone viewing that I don't read the Mail. I am confused now
Alf Bentley Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Can I just point out to anyone viewing that I don't read the Mail. So you have said previously, Matt....and yet you are "the Voice of the Mail". Mysterious!
Guest MattP Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 So you have said previously, Matt....and yet you are "the Voice of the Mail". Mysterious! It's quite scandalous what you get tarred with these days....
Rincewind Posted 22 August 2013 Author Posted 22 August 2013 Had to smile when I went to the U3A open day. One of the groups is a current affairs discussion and they had a table with newspapers on. I was standing near when a woman said to the bloke in charge 'I would be interested if it wasn't for the Mail on display.' He just laughed and said 'We do look at others' I would join it but I don't want it taking over my life. I mentioned the DNO paper and said we try to be non-political and he said it is hard sometimes not to be. Which is true I suppose. If you have a strong POV on something it can be perceived as being political when it is not always so. I read yesterday that some labour said Milliband was like Atlee. A good leader but bad at getting message across to the people. Atlee brought some good things in The NHS? but was not very good with speeches.
MooseBreath Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Miliband isn't bad at getting ideas across, he just doesn't have any ideas. Literally all I've heard from Labour for years now is low-blow swipes at the Tories usually based around their economic policy which, as it turns out, appears to have been spot on.
Rincewind Posted 22 August 2013 Author Posted 22 August 2013 It's quite scandalous what you get tarred with these days.... I won't hold it against you

Don't you think that during Labour's term of office that for long periods it "appeared as though their economic policies appeared spot on" ? I don't think our governments have that much sway anymore. Outside forces beyond our control pretty much dictate the economic climate.
Guest MattP Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Don't you think that during Labour's term of office that for long periods it "appeared as though their economic policies appeared spot on" ? When you saw barmaids on £4.50 an hour wandering around with Louis Vuitton handbags and Jimmy Choo's on you realised something might not be quite right somewhere.
