DanTheMan Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Hi guys, Just thought I'd let you know that I've recently updated my app TeamTracker for the 2013/14 season. Here's the main features: • League standings of all the second tier teams• View all match results & upcoming fixtures• Individual team pages with extended stats & graphs of league position, points gained and more...• Compare current team progress against stats from past seasons• Follow your favourite team - shortcut right in the menu! Apologies if this break some rules for advertising, but I really think this app is very useful for footy fans, and it's an extension of the spreadsheets I've done in the last couple of seasons. Also, since we are all friends here, I can send download coupon codes out to anybody that wants one - PM me for a code if you want the app for free! Check TeamTracker out on the App Store P.S. Take note of the LCFC blue throughout the app
Xen Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Looks good, nice work Any chance of an Android version?
DanTheMan Posted 22 August 2013 Author Posted 22 August 2013 Haha, I don't know enough about Android development - it would take me far too long, and I currently don't have the spare time. Conversely, the iOS version took me 3.5 weeks back in January
Renart Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 Cheers for this Dan and thank you very much for the code. The app looks really good (professional job) and I am looking forward to playing with it further as the season progresses and more data becomes available. Just a couple of points (very minor) if I may: In the info box that comes up when you request it on the More Team Stats page there is a typo - 'Games since team a clean sheet'. I know what you mean of course. In general, I think you could probably do a little more to explain the stats and graphs in this section, such as predicted total and points remaining for Auto. Also, I can't see anything as yet under previous form and I am a little confused by what the stats under Attack and Defence mean (this might just be me being a little thick). That sounds like I am being picky, which I am because it is really very good. I think you can be picky when something is good, right?. Really quick and easy to use. Very well presented (might the Max Points be in a different colour from grey as my eyes found it difficult to see? - this might become easier as the season progresses and there is more of a difference). The remember data setting looks really useful. Everything else spot on. How easy would it be to put more than one team on the graphs so you might compare 2 teams i.e. Leicester and Forest? Just an idea. I tried to give you a five star review in the app store but it told me that I had to purchase it first. This might be because I downloaded it using the code you gave me but I will try again later. Great work. You are clearly a really clever chap. Anyone thinking about getting the app should. I have never used a promo code before and found this link useful: http://www.slideshare.net/LinkouBian/how-to-use-promo-code-in-app-store

Well spotted with the typo - will fix that on the next update. 2. You're right that I should probably explain how the app is arriving at the predicted total & the points remaing for... graphs. 3. The lack of "Previous Form" is a bug that I've already submitted an update for, just waiting for Apple to review it... Basically it's not appearing as it is supposed to show the W/D/L form for the last 6 games, but we've not had 6 games yet and the way I'd done it meant it just appears blank currently until that happens. 4. The Attack and Defense stats are the averaged out goals scored/conceded per game respectively for Home, Away and in Total. 5. The grey colour for Max Points on the graph is easier to read as the season goes on, I might change it to something brighter for more contrast. 6. The compare 2 teams feature is a good idea and something that I'll definitely look at doing - although would make grim reading at the mo using LCFC vs Forest as the example, haha! Thanks again for the constructive criticism!
Renart Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 No worries. Hope you don't mind and that some of it is useful. Like I said, even without those things being looked at, it is a great app. Well done. Have you had many others take you up on the offer? I imagine people would be biting your arm off for a freebie.
DanTheMan Posted 22 August 2013 Author Posted 22 August 2013 No worries - by the way, I've just made all those changes except the compare teams feature and submitted the update for review to Apple - shouldn't be more than a week before it's approved. And yeah, I've had a few PM for the freebie!
DanTheMan Posted 28 August 2013 Author Posted 28 August 2013 Just a quick note to let you know, the update I mentioned has gone live! Again, let me know if you want a free download code and if you've got any feature requests.
DanTheMan Posted 14 September 2013 Author Posted 14 September 2013 Hi again guys, Just a note to say I've published another update for the app - this one has an updated user interface ready for when iOS 7 comes out in the next week or so, along with MUCH faster data downloading when you first load the app (was taking 6-8 seconds before, now only takes 1-3 seconds!). There were also a couple of bugs that I'd noticed which are fixed as well. As always - I welcome people's feedback and feature suggestions. Also PM me if any of you want a code for a free download of the app! UP THE FOXES! Get TeamTracker from the iOS App Store P.S. I have had an idea for a major new feature regarding goalscoring stats, since TeamTracker has the data already: - League overall/Per Team top scorers list - League overall/Per Team penalty scorers/own goal scorers list - League overall/Per Team scorers graph by 5-minute blocks (e.g. how many scorers 1-5mins, 6-10 etc. Could also include most stoppage time goals?) - Per team graph for percentage of games won after leading/won after trailing/lost after leading/lost after trailing Do people see this as worthwhile, and would you as a user find this interesting to look at? Thoughts on a postcard Cheers, Dan
DanTheMan Posted 6 January 2014 Author Posted 6 January 2014 Guys, I'm working on a major overhaul of the TeamTracker app (better user interface and more features!), so I thought I'd keep you all posted... User Interface I did the original app in under 4 weeks, so the UI was a bit rushed, so I've put in some effort to make it more polished: Images of the new UI Design Compare with the existing app design here! New Features: I've been adding a few new features/fixing things: - Goal Stats screen (see the photo album in the first link above) - A better slide-out menu that is smoother, and blocks user finger taps with the "main" screen whilst the menu is being shown (a big cause of confusion and annoyance based on feedback I've had) - League Table movement info on the Match Result screen (green up arrow or red down arrow with places moved based on the match result) - Made some of the help info clearer to understand Still to Do: I've still got a couple of things that I want to include: - League Performance Screen: Will show things like Biggest Home & Away wins; Highest Team Score; Highest Scoring Match; Current & Longest Win/Unbeaten/Losing/Winless Sequences; Number of games won by 1/2/3/4/5+ goals; Earliest & Latest goals scored, % of goals scored in stoppage time. - League Stats Screen: Will show Most & Fewest Wins, Draws, Losses; League Top Overall Scorers/Top Penalty Scorers. Feedback As always, I welcome all your feedback on either the new UI, new features I'm proposing, or if you've got an idea for something you think I'm leaving out... Cheers, Dan
Alexikokopops Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I missed this at the start of the season so I've just downloaded it now. One really minor thing is that it would be good if the star is highlighted when you select your favourite team. That's really minor - I've only just started using it but it's great from what I've seen so far! Edit: on the graphs is it possible to make it easier to see (in the Points Remaining For... screen for example) the number of games left and the points needed if you, say, held your finger over the end of the line? Much like holding your finger on text brings up the magnifying when you're typing a message? It's not that easy to quickly see. Also, in the Points Remaining For.. screen (I'm enjoying this screen, can you tell ) it might be more intuitive to have matches remaining along the bottom rather than matches gone. Just so they're both working in the same direction (making it easier to quickly see the points remaining and games remaining). Again, these are small things, the app is awesome. I spend of lot of time making/analysing graphs at work so I also may just be being unnecessarily nerdy. For instance I'd like to have a look at a proportional bar chart on PG vs MP just out of curiosity but I'd imagine not many people are that interested in it Apologies if any of these may have been mentioned above (possibly in your post!) - I'm at work so playing around with this app on the sly...
DanTheMan Posted 6 January 2014 Author Posted 6 January 2014 Alexi - Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback! To address your points: - The star button should change colour once you've selected a team as your favourite, to signify the change? Did this not happen? Or are you suggesting something else... I'm a bit unclear. - The graphs expand when using the app in landscape to fill the screen... I did also experiment with a pinch-zooming feature (much like with websites/photos etc) but it was a bit buggy. Maybe worth my time to re-try it. - Good point RE: the direction of the numbers on that graph. I'll change them to go from 46 -> 0 and change the title to "Matches Remaining" I hope that helps. I'd also be interested to hear your thoughts on the new UI & features I'm proposing for the next app update.

I hadn't realised! I was thinking of filling the star in so it goes from an outline to a solid star (and leaving the background the same colour). It might make it more obvious (although it was pretty shambolic of me not to realise it was changing colour). I like the expanding graphs. It would still be handy to somehow see the latest numbers really easily, but that could just be me. Sorry for the quite picky points! Hope I don't sound like an ass. I'm loving the app. I've spent the day telling my QPR supporting boss how much better we are than them. I'll have a look at the new UI when I get a chance!
Mike Oxlong Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Turd Tracker is a great little App. Lets you know the precise coordinates of your log once you've flushed it away.
DanTheMan Posted 6 January 2014 Author Posted 6 January 2014 Turd Tracker is a great little App. Lets you know the precise coordinates of your log once you've flushed it away. I laughed way too hard at this! I'm like Alexi - love me some stats! Hopefully the app proves that they're not all BS (Like when pundits say something like "Team X hasn't beaten Team Y in 5 years", when they've been in different leagues for 3 or 4 years or something).

DanTheMan Posted 8 January 2014 Author Posted 8 January 2014 Guys, A quick update - I've finished the League Stats and League Performance screens, as described in my post earlier... planning to submit the update for review today or tomorrow! See what you think: League Stats Screen League Performances Screen
DanTheMan Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 Hi again all - a quick note to say that the v2.0 update has been approved by Apple and is now available! Get TeamTracker 2.0 HERE PM me if any of you want a code for a free download from the App Store!
DanTheMan Posted 19 February 2014 Author Posted 19 February 2014 Just a quick note to say that the app is now FREE! Get it while it's hot chaps!
DanTheMan Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 Is it just on apple? Yes mate - unfortunately I don't have any experience with Android development
Strokes Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Yes mate - unfortunately I don't have any experience with Android development That's a shame
Zapp Posted 25 February 2014 Posted 25 February 2014 Got this & is very decent! Like the remaining points targets with best, worst and average case scenarios. If I was request I think having a direct comparison tool would be cool. Possibly a table to show home or away results. I have no idea how difficult it is to do this stuff but its great & easy to use
Bluefoxtim Posted 7 May 2014 Posted 7 May 2014 Been using this app for months now. Love it! Any plans on a Premier League version?
