Monk Posted 8 September 2013 Posted 8 September 2013 Evernote is sheer brilliance if you use it right. You can record pretty much anything and make it searchable on your account, sharing it across devices. I have an iPad for work but I've never really got into taking notes with a stylus. Have a few colleagues who swear by it though.
Merging Cultures Posted 8 September 2013 Posted 8 September 2013 Are chromebooks any good and would one be useful for university in replacement of a laptop?Chromebooks only offer browsing and light documents, I'm not sure if office is available on the Chrome OS. I think they're not meant for anything other than searching the web.You can edit and create office docs in Google docs. But sometimes the format goes strange when converted.Offline docs too. Personally, I'd get an Asus 14 inch ultrabook, very reasonable and great quality. I spent ages researching for a new company laptop but was told IT only Dell or HP. Boo.
Vardinhio Posted 8 September 2013 Posted 8 September 2013 My Dell Inspiron is probably 4 years old now and I have treated it like crap! Current issues are as follows: 1) The casing all around the screen is cracked with some of it now completely exposing the metal parts 2) The laptop fell off my bed whilst the power cable was connected, thus ruining the adapter and more important the internal power supply socket. This now means for the laptop to function the power cable has to be cellotaped in to the laptop...the battery does not charge at all. 3) The right mouse clicker stopped working some time in 2010/2011, not sure why, spillage? I get around this by using the key next to Ctrl though. The laptop was maybe £399 a good few years back and somehow it still works and it travels with me between Bristol and Leicestershire twice a week every week. In conclusion, DELL make pretty robust laptops, the very fact this one still works is crazy.
