The only thing I can never get my head around, both for him and any other out of contract player, unless injured, what this lack of pre-season bit? If I was after a new contract with someone I'd be busting a gut and fitness would not be an issue. Match sharpness yes, fitness no. Do our own pre-season, there plenty of roads and hills and even the odd gym here and there. Why not splash out and get a personal trainer even?
