Jimothy Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 The prices wouldn't be half as bad if the actually got somebody even remotely famous to star in it. For a biggish city, Leicester is awful at attracting stars to do anything. We never even get a z lister to turn on the Christmas lights. The "star" of this panto seems to be Radio Leicester's Martin Ballard. Even Derby can get Heather Trott off Enders and some dude off X factor, and were stuck with Martin sodding Ballard.
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Robbie Savage once put on Rothley Christmas lights. Just saying.
Jimothy Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 Robbie Savage once put on Rothley Christmas lights. Just saying. That's Rothley though. Just shows even a small village outside Leicester can get someone quite famous, but the city never bothers.
The People's Hero Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 We got that irritating bird off cbeebies with half an arm (not irritating because she has half an arm but believe it or not even those with afflictions can be irritating) turned on the Maidstone lights. She's famous. Real famous. Mainly among kids and parents of young kids obviously but still famous. Didn't even need anyone else to give her a hand.

Now, if it had been Nina (of the Neurons) or Miss Hooley from Balamory, I'd have been straight down to Kent. Unusual taste with Miss Hooley, I know; I obviously have a thing for women with Scottish accents. I miss having an excuse to watch those programmes...
Alf Bentley Posted 10 December 2013 Posted 10 December 2013 I saw this advertised saw it was Adults at Children's prices and thought it would be a nice treat for my family, 4 Adults and 4 kids under 6 years old. Except the children's prices are £18 - WTF!!!!! Am I so completely out of touch? No, you're not completely out of touch. De Montfort Hall prices are ridiculously high for almost anything. About the best things on there were the festivals (Summer Sundae and Big Session), but they've fallen by the wayside....though that cheap local festival they had this summer was decent and a good deal (and I've managed to snaffle some cut-price tickets for Russell Brand in the spring). "4 adults", though, Davie? I had you down as a pillar of the community and it sounds like you live in a hippie love commune...
