Guest Col city fan Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I believe last night's game was so good due to two main factors: pace and control. We are attacking so quickly at present and this contrasts directly with last season, particularly when we introduced Wood into the side. Vardy's running is terrorising defences and AGAIN, it was his pace that drew the defender (Forsyth?) into making a rash tackle, leading to the penalty. Nugent is quicker than most and Dyer is having the season of his life. Even DeLaet is deceptively quick. We can hit teams on the break so quickly that they cannot cope. Secondly... Control. James and Drinkwater have such an understanding of each other's game that they instinctively know where the other is. Few midfields this season will make Derby's look so completely ordinary. We controlled that central position so well last night. I have said for some time that King should be dropped. Nice player though he is, James is better. And for those wanting Wood back in the side... Im personally happy he's not played in the first eleven recently. I believe we are a better side when we play through the midfield and play with speed. Last night was about pace and control and was the best we have played for years. IMO.

Leicester Lass Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Agreed apart from one thing, there's nothing deceptive at all about de Laet's pace.
Foxymcoxy Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Yeah can't remember who now but one of the team said De Laet is the fastest in the squad. That's a squad that includes Vardy Dyer and Schlupp. It's so useful because it gives us pace overlapping Knockaert on the right, and obviously Dyer brings his own pace on the left. No wonder defenders are shitting their pants.

Exeter Fox Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Was a joy to watch. I'd forgotten what watching a performance as good as that is like. Totally agree with everything, our pace has been influential in our 13(?) penalties this season as well.
Stadt Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Pace is absolutely horrible to defend against if it is used effectively and that's definitely what we're doing at the moment !
lcfc81 Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 I like wisdom's decision to show dyre down the wing on his let foot twice in the first 15 mins! Did he actually watch any videos on dyre before the game! I know wisdoms quick but ....
