MGLCFC Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 When Hawkeye judges whether a ball is in or out at tennis, it's the 'smudge' it makes on the surface, not the overhang. In other words, the part of the ball that is in contact with the surface is the judgement as to whether it is over the line or not. It's a difficult one to call for the lino, he's looking through two posts and Given, who was in his line of view and only had a split second to make the decision. Had it been against us I think I would have been quite angry. It may well have been a game changing moment, but we certainly pushed on after that moment and won convincingly.
ImBlue Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I would be more mad at my defender. From that position he should have to rely on the ball going out of play by an inch to give away a goal. Both centre halves were clumsy idiots
Free Falling Foxes Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I don't think it was. The angle makes it look worse, I bet if there was a camera directly above you'd see that the whole ball wasn't over the line, as highlighted in this video: http://vine.co/v/hDql5zJnbrt That video in flawed IMO. The camera goes beyond the perpendicular - beyond right angles in relation to the surface.

And in rugby, a players foot just needs to touch the line - it's irrelevant to this. In football, the whole of the ball has to cross the whole of the line, and it did not.
broughtonblue Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Thought it was out from where I was sitting, and also the the fact a replay wasn't shown on the big screens convinced me, as they are not allowed to show controversial decisions. But from the highlights I'm not so sure
broughtonblue Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Would love to see the shove on vardy that led to the free kick from which de laet scored, missed it but my mate said it should have been a red card
