dynamite foxes Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 he tries to blast everything in. he has no control and seems to go missing when things aren't going well. play benji up there with dublin. he's too small and not strong enough and he will not score any important goals
Mark Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Come on. Theres been alot worse players than Connolly. He creates chances for himself a lot so give him credit there. Once he's got a goal he'll be ok. Its a bit different for him as well, West Ham play a totally different way to us, he's got to adapt to the long ball knock down shit that we persist in playing. Best striker at the club.
davieG Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 he tries to blast everything in. he has no control and seems to go missing when things aren't going well. play benji up there with dublin. he's too small and not strong enough and he will not score any important goals 14073 Benjamin for Connolly :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: That has got to be a wind up - Well if your idea was to get a response you've succeeded. You can't even compare them, discounting the obvious skills gap between the 2, they are completely different types of players. fine if your view is that Connolly is overrated, you could be right only time will tell. But I've seen Benjamin enough to know that he is a very likable, hard working guy but when it comes to football he's a donkey on ice. Not his fault he shouldn't even been in this division.
Mad Dog Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 I'm 100% convinced once Connolly scores 1 goal he'll get loads.
gagandeep Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 i don't know if other people have noticed this but connoly is ahead of all our other players skill, and technique wise. he trys 1-2's and the other player doesnt go for it, like wilcox and canero yesterday. our players seem to take longer to pass the ball, so the opurtunity of a through ball fades away. i know i aint making much sense, but i'm sure some ppl will know what i'm saying.
Mad Dog Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 I know exactly what you mean, I said the exact thing to the lad I was with on the first day of the season, that Connolly looks a bit too good for us. He clearly looks frustrated with the team all the time. I think Keown is thinking the same thing, why did I join these lot!
Teeno Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 How bloody perfetic, 4 games in come on. He really does try and I think once he gets 1 he wont stop scoring.
Mark Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 He's too clever for our players, they are all different to him. He's looking for one twos but they aint on the same wavelength.
SilverFox Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 he tries to blast everything in. he has no control and seems to go missing when things aren't going well. play benji up there with dublin. he's too small and not strong enough and he will not score any important goals 14073 I don't mean any disrespect but you are crazy!!!!!!!!!
Buzzell Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Waste of money, no way. Like you all said once he gets a goal he will gain more confidence making create better chances and putting most of them away.
TrickyTrev Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Made all his chances for himself. I have no idea what it must be like for a player wanting to pass the ball in our team at times. The movement is pathetic.
Buzzell Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 I really do like the lad. I see him in the category of Defoe. I think he's a greedy player who likes to own the ball alot and can create his own chances (like Defoe)
Scow Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Unbelieveable. £500,000 for a quality Championship level striker who will bag plenty once he registers. I think a few of you are spot on - He seems far too clever for our simple style of play.
Carlo Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 he tries to blast everything in. he has no control and seems to go missing when things aren't going well. play benji up there with dublin. he's too small and not strong enough and he will not score any important goals 14073 I'll bet you he scores more goals than Benjamin this season !!!! As for the no control and too small i'll remind you of this silly post in a few months!!!!!
Guest freund Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 remember the west ham game when he was up front on his own for practically the whole match and nearly scored a couple of goals? although he missed the penalty and apparently played badly against watford, i still think when dublins back he'll get plenty of goals
Scow Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 He did not play badly at all against Watford - He was given no decent service throughout the game, he had to create for himself.
Scow Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 sounds a bit like every other game 14259 Indeed.
Muz Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 I had a pound on connolly to score first!the odds were 9-2 i was gutted when he hit the post twice!
Marcoos Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 Yeah. Imagine what you could have done with that £5.50... I felt the same when my usual lottery numbers came up and I had forgoten to buy a ticket...
Muz Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 5.50 would have done very nicely thank you! better than note
dynamite foxes Posted 23 August 2004 Author Posted 23 August 2004 he missed 2 sitters and as for benji benji 1, 30 minutes connolly 0, 360 minutes, 1 missed penalty Connolly = Dean Saunders, hat trick when your 2-0 up. doesn't score when it matters. mark my words
Ric Flair Posted 23 August 2004 Posted 23 August 2004 he missed 2 sitters and as for benjibenji 1, 30 minutes connolly 0, 360 minutes, 1 missed penalty Connolly = Dean Saunders, hat trick when your 2-0 up. doesn't score when it matters. mark my words 14440 What aload of bollocks that is! Don't even begin to compare Benjamin to Connolly, let's have this debate in a few months time when this post of yours will embarrass you.
