Missed the Game

Recommended Posts

Arrived at Loughborough station yesterday morning and caught the 10:42 to Derby and only had to wait a few minutes to get the connection to Sheffield for the next leg of our journey.

We had just passed Duffield a mere five minutes out of Derby and there was an inexplicable crunch as the train obviously went over something. The train came to a halt and it soon became apparent to me that there was a big problem looming.

One hundred fifty five minutes later and we are heading back to Derby and any chance of seeing the game have gone following a sequence of events that you couldn't really write.

Apparently somebody had got onto the line and the train had gone over them causing the driver to bring the train to a halt, the driver was understandably traumatised and had to be replaced and the train had front end damage and had to be returned to Derby to be taken out of service.

By the time we arrived back in Derby it was nearly two o clock and even lingering thoughts of a taxi were out of the question. I've always driven to Huddersfield but fancied a few beers with the lads on the train to enjoy the last away day of this fantastic season.

Anybody else have their day ruined due to this incident?

Our support looked brilliant and having read some reports it looked as though we won it at a canter.

Why were you in Barnsley?

Because the first train was delayed and redirected due to your jumper, the train from Sheffield to Huddersfield was cancelled due to the second jumper meaning you had to go via Barnsley, the train from Barnsley arrived and promptly broke down.
