Corky Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 He was absolute class for us. I said it at the time and I'll say it again, how many goals could you actually look at and pinpoint Bamba as being at fault? You'll struggle to name one. I'm not complaining he left but he was never the liability/bombscare that people made out and what's more he was absolutely great to watch for a defender. He didn't move on because he wasn't good enough, he moved on because he was here for Sven and he was on too much money in much the manner that Fernandes left. It worked for us and it worked for him and both parties are probably happy with what's happened for them since. Since he left he's gone on to play top level football in Turkey (not as bad as some would have you believe) and for the Ivory Coast at major tournaments. He was far too good for The Championship. Ipswich away in 2012, Scotland turned him like he wasn't there.
65RosesFox Posted 30 May 2014 Author Posted 30 May 2014 We should sign him back and then sign Christopher Samba. and persuade muamba out of retirement. And get Djemba Djemba and Demba Ba.
Narborough_fox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Holding midfield role. Remember when he played there against Peterborough? Deary me. Bamba's a cult hero, there's no other way to put it really. Scored with his first touch against Manchester City and was always fun to watch, if a huge bombscare with the ball in our own half.

I can remember loads, a lot of the time he didn't look like he was actually at fault for the goal as he wasn't even in the picture for it. Let alone the amount of goals we conceded as the rest of the back four were completely out of position because he was nowhere to be seen. Average in the SPL, a bombscare in the Championship and kicked out of an appalling European League, he's a dreadful defender and any team that has him in with concede a shedload. I didn't find him entertaining to watch when he was doing Cruyff turns and pinging 40 yard passes out of play when we were losing at home Bristol City and Millwall every other week. (I also find it very hard to believe he left as he was on too much, we signed him from Hibernian, Pearson jusy knew he was crap and couldn;t defend, if he could, then just like Nugent and Kasper on high wages he would have been kept on)
Fox92 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 He wasn't class, he was average and he was a liability. More often that not, his pace got him out of problems he got himself into. Hobbs was a better defender, Morrison was a better defender, Vitor was a better defender and Morgan and Moore are better defenders.
