Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 I'm not disputing DD is a good player only that he hasn't delivered this season yet for the reasons stated above. Granted he's still getting up to Premiership pace and speed. I hope I'm proved wrong but for me he needs to get his head up and make telling passes. Otherwise I think he'll lose out to Matty James on the right side of midfield. Who is a better player than DD only problem is keeping Matty fit. Cambi in the middle and I think we'll end up with Schlupp on the left who for me looked decent and improving in the few games he played. Offering speed, strenght in the tackle and width on the left along with scoring opportunities. As to DD, A lot of people said the same about Wellens and look how that finished. One poor game and he's not delivered? He didn't deliver against United, or Stoke when he came on? Have a word. Sure you've had this before with comments like that but you should really think about changing your username.
MPH Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 Definitely looking forward to not seeing Hammond on the pitch - James in for him. Might sound harsh, as Hammond has had his good moments this season, but there have been long passages of play - especially against Arsenal - when he has been an absolute liability and a disaster waiting to happen. Still think he was lucky to still be on the pitch against the Gunners at the end. He isn't in the team to create anything, which is just as well as he offers nothing going forward. He is in the team to disrupt the opposition, win the ball back and to break up play. So when he mistimes tackles, loses possession and gets beat for one-on-one tackles, it's time to bring him off. Pearson must see something else in him that I fail to see. Great player to have in the squad, but he has been found wanting more than any other regular player this season. I get that it's very unfashionable to like hammond and that his style of play isn't full of tricks, but he has really surprised me this season and in my opinion has fully deserved his place in the team. So many players played badly against Palace that it would be very harsh to single him out as needing to be replaced. He's been in the side completely on merit.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 These three when we need to control midfield away from home but 442 at home against the botton half teams when we will have possession already.
