Drinkwater, Cambiasso, James

Anyone else looking forward to this trio? I think James offers more in an attacking sense than Hammond while being good at tracking back as well

I'd be surprised if James didn't start against Burnley. It will be interesting to see how Pearson lines City up against them, whether he keeps the 4-3-3 or changes to the 4-4-2.

4-3-3 I would start Drinkwater, Cambiasso and James in the midfield.

I thought Cambiasso played well in the first half. I'd rather drop Hammond.

Possibly our best player out of a bad bunch. Surprised when Pearson took him off instead of Hammond.

I disagree. I though Cambiasso was almost as bad as Drinkwater

Cambiasso had taken a knock and this is only his second start. he can't be up to full fitness yet. Pearson has the opportunity to bring James in now we have had a poor performance. I expect Hammond will make way. if DD plays badly again then he might be warming the bench at Newcastle.

suspect burnley will play 2 banks of 4 and ask us if we can break them down. Given how few goals they have conceded thus far, could be a very tactical affair. need to raise the tempo again and at the KP should be easier than away from home.

None of the midfield played particularly well. James definitely needs to play against Burnley, even King perhaps?

So Hammond has a bad game and he has to be dropped, despite him being equally as bad as the other 2 midfielders yesterday. Cambiasso looked for the Hollywood pass far too often and gave the ball away alot, with Drinkwater probably being the worst player on the pitch.

Think for Burnley we should go back to a 4-4-2 and play with some proper width.

Kasper

Simpson   Moore   Morgan   Konch

Albrighton   Drinkwater  James   Mahrez

Nugent (Only because he always scores against Burnley) Ulloa

And yet you have De Laet dropped after one bad game?

Vardy

Hamer, De Laet, Hammond, Schlupp, Powell, Lawrence, Nugent

I would like to see Albrighton start and see Powell and Lawrence come off the bench to see what they can do.

Hammond (and King) have done brilliantly to fill in, they've both performed well, but yeah I'd go back to the Drinkwater and James combination with Cambiasso alongside them.

Replace Cambiasso! Are you mad?

I think Matty James is the better player of the two to start in a game against Burnley. Had Cambiasso had the name 'king' or 'Hammond' on the back of his shirt yesterday, no one would have said he had a good game.

I think Cambiasso is too slow and old to play as a midfield 2, so if we go 4-4-2 it needs to be James and Drinkwater. However, if we play a three man midfield then yes I'd definitely play Cambiasso, as he was fantastic in that role at Stoke and against Man Utd.

If fit, James and Drinkwater for me. They know each other's game so well

Definitely looking forward to not seeing Hammond on the pitch - James in for him.

Might sound harsh, as Hammond has had his good moments this season, but there have been long passages of play - especially against Arsenal - when he has been an absolute liability and a disaster waiting to happen. Still think he was lucky to still be on the pitch against the Gunners at the end.

He isn't in the team to create anything, which is just as well as he offers nothing going forward. He is in the team to disrupt the opposition, win the ball back and to break up play. So when he mistimes tackles, loses possession and gets beat for one-on-one tackles, it's time to bring him off. Pearson must see something else in him that I fail to see.

Great player to have in the squad, but he has been found wanting more than any other regular player this season.

Got it.

He had to play in the first few matches due to our injuries, but has done a pretty job nonetheless. 'Absolute liability'? Extremely harsh.
