Dickov22 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Is Cambiasso crap now? People won't defend Cambiasso but will go to the other end of the planet to do so for Nugent. Neither are crap
dmayne7 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 After Drinky's performance yesterday, I'd consider dropping him. Hammond has done well but I think now is the time to be ruthless. If its 2, James and Cambiasso. If 3 James, Cambiasso, King. Though I think its likely Drinkwater will play and it should be the kind of game where he can flourish.
muzzy1981 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 It will be interesting to see if Powell ha a part to play this season too. Could see him as an AM behind a striker. Lots of options just choosing the right one which is why nige and the team have there work cut out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Clever Fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 James has to come back in as we have missed his long range passing. Cambiasso has to play for his experience. Drinkwater needs to seriously up his game as he's in danger of becoming a modest player at best. While he doesn't often lose the ball he rarely makes that telling forward pass, which is what we need from him. There's no doubting his ability he just needs to produce it. I wouldn't mind seeing Schlupp back in on the left either as I thought he played well despite missing a few chances in his early games. Maybe also rest Nugent and give Wood a start against Burnley.
sdb Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 And yet you have De Laet dropped after one bad game? He's had a couple more than that!
Clever Fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 He's been poor since the first match. He hasn't got the better of any Winger defensively which is what we require most from him. Unlike Konch on the other side. There's no doubt De Laet offers a lot going forward though. Maybe a few weeks on the sideline might let him see where he's going wrong.
Father Ted Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 It's certainly a dilemma. I don't think we can go into games playing that diamond again. When we play a 4-3-3/4-5-1, it is absolutely vital that Nugent does not start. The problem also with this is that Vardy is often pushed out wide, which we don't want at all. Play 4-4-2 and one of Cambiasso/Drinkwater/James must be left out. Interesting as to where Pearson goes with this now but one thing that shouldn't be happening in either system in Nugent starting - however we all know how unlikely this is.

No Cambiasso doesn't have to play 'for his experience'. You play your best side. If Cambiasso is in it, sobeit. Personally, I want to see the 'partnerships' return. Drinkwater and James know each other's game so well, I'd start with them in the middle. To be honest, and might got shot down for this (quel surprise), I'd play King over Cambiasso. King has done nothing wrong whatsoever. He's younger, fitter and, now, just as good IMO.
Clever Fox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 I don't believe Nigel signed Cambiaso to sit on the bench. Remember he's still finding his feet in the premiership. James on the other hand is pure quality if only we can keep him fit. I understand why you think him and Drinky will play as well together again. Perhaps Cambi in the defensive role might release them both to get forward and create. The problem we have now is De Laet is seen as the weak link in our defence and is being targeted as such. Maybe Simpson will improve that situation and free Drinky to get forward. While i love King in the team and I know NP loves him. I think his best position is in the advanced roll behind the forwards. That means playing 442 or dropping Nugent. Who I think needs a rest anyway. In short we have too many Mid Fielders who like to pick the ball up and no one to get in there and win it. Hammond has done a reasonable job but is not the long term answer. Another problem I believe is NP is still searching for his best line up while trying to maintain results. I've every confidence in Nigel to get it right. Anyway Saturday was only one result so let's not get to despondent. It's just the manner of the defeat which is causing so much debate.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 And yet you have De Laet dropped after one bad game? He's had a series of games and I think a lot of people would agree he's been our worst player. If De Laet can't be considered for being dropped (not saying he definitely should btw) then there's not one player in the team that can be considered.
fuchsntf Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 For me the next few games. Cambiasso plays....needs to get into the PL rythm James plays... probably our best player, needs games in his legs. DD plays.... Had a knock, maybe off the pace, needs games. He and James together last seasons wonder duo. Nugent... I have no gripes or complaints, but this game, sits on the bench.Mahrez or Albrighton come in. RdL... lets see what Simpson can Bring. Hammond.... Thanks, but back to the bench,65-70 minute auto replacement for Cambiasso Powell... Bench, but if DD or James tire, lets get him in for his 1st outing knokky... Bench, after hattrick from Vardy, comes on to keep him in the family. Ulloa.... No rests. Plays until for ever, until injury stops him. King... maybe another choice to replace Nugent, 3 across the middle with Cambiosso sitting behind.
Lestoh Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Crazy how quick people are to demand we drop players after a bad game. Cambiasso's passes are incredible, he can rip Burnley apart. The only reasonable argument for dropping would be the knock he picked up against Palace.
Grewks Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Is Cambiasso crap now? People won't defend Cambiasso but will go to the other end of the planet to do so for Nugent. Its cos 'he runs around a lot'. HUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 People writing Danny Drinkwater off 'could become average' etc, because of one bad game?! Have a day off.
Chug Laguna Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 I think all of the accepted first team squad have quality and can each come down with a bad game from time to time but I trust Pearson to sort it out. I'm going to pick a random team member to slag off at every opportunity because I don't really have one right now and I feel left out. That being said Liam Moore is shit
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 What I've been waiting for, glad the Dean Hammond love in is finally over, this is our best midfield with King on the fringes.
Dickov22 Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Have I really seen on here that Drinkwater deserves to be dropped?! Sensational last season, the difference second half at Stoke, brilliant against Man Utd, has a bad game at Palace (along with the entire team) Just wow!
Captain... Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 One bad game doesn't make you shit. Did LVG drop Blind because he had a poor game against us? No, because he saw that we put a man on him to stop him being effective, it doesn't mean he is shit. We need to stop judging players by their last performance, every game is different and poses different problems, we pick the team to beat Burnley based on their ability and fitness, not how they played in the last match.
Stadt Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Whilst MJ is fantastic some are going over the top here, he does the simple things well which is why he's so important.

Sensational last season, the difference second half at Stoke, brilliant against Man Utd, has a bad game at Palace (along with the entire team) Just wow!I know, so many people are too quick to judge and get rid of players. I'm glad none of them are managers, because the lack of confidence from all the player would be astonishing
Clever Fox Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Nobody is suggesting getting rid of anybody. Just that they kick on to the next level. Yes Drinky he had a fantastic season in the Championship. But we're now in the Premiership. I expected him to be one of our better players this year given the amount of skill he has. But for me he hasn't yet, too many tipi tap sideway passes and not enough of aggression. He hasn't started with the same passion as nearly everyone else. He only came into the game against utd when De Maria went off and left a hole on utds left side. Cambiasso on the other hand can play it long and short with great accuracy and take players out of the game with one pass. James is pure class and we need to get him in the Team soon as possible. I think we'll end up with James, Cambi and don't be surprised if it's Schlupp in the midfield.
st albans fox Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 Not sure anyone can judge until we see the three playing together. perhaps Saturday will bring this scenario.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 What I've been waiting for, glad the Dean Hammond love in is finally over, this is our best midfield with King on the fringes. I find that a strange thing to say. People were praising him because he was playing well. What's to dislike about that situation?

Buzzell Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 The thought of James, Cambiasso and Drinkwater playing together in the middle of the park makes me do a sex wee. Hope Pearson goes with that against Burnley.
