DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 So is racism and homophobia imo. You're entitled to an opinion, as we all are, but what has that to do with mangled corpses?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Speed checks must be performed in marked vehicles. Sneaking about is completely against policy. The whole point of doing the checks is so that members of the public realise that the police are there enforcing the law. This article says as much. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2730983/Caught-camera-Police-officers-filmed-trying-catch-speeders-unmarked-car-despite-rules-saying-cameras-clearly-visible.html Totally agree, so don't speed. It's all about saving lives, or are they not worth saving? Maybe you don't think so.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I nearly spilled a full ashtray on my mates carpet after a night stomping to Andy C, I didn't eat for days, and had a reet pain in my gulliver, I hear what your saying. Hope you've recovered.
Vardinhio Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Totally agree, so don't speed. It's all about saving lives, or are they not worth saving? Maybe you don't think so. Not sure what you are getting at. I was merely pointing out that I disagree with your comment about "why advertise yourself? if people are stupid enough to speed they deserve all they get". You make it sound like the police can hide behind a bush and jump out on you which is simply not true. For one they wouldn't be able to gather sufficient evidence to present in court, plus any vehicle being stopped has to be by an officer in uniform. It certainly has more effect on me seeing a police speed operation than reading in the press that one motorist got followed by a sneaky peaky undercover car and got handed a £90 fine. It's all about community perception and getting the message out there surely.
adam1 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 The A14 which heads down past Cambridge? Motherf#cker of a road for speed cameras. There is average speed cameras on that road - even when there is no road works. Horrible road.
AoWW Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Generally you're lucky if, at peak time, you can do more than 70 between Cambridge and Huntingdon regardless of the average speed cameras.
Bettsj2 Posted 5 October 2014 Posted 5 October 2014 I had to do a speed awareness course after getting done a few years ago. Absolutely everyone in the room tried arguing the toss with the guy doing the course about how it was unfair etc etc. About half way through you could tell he was pissed and he just said:- Do you know what the speed limit was? Did you know you were breaking it? Did you know of the consequences if you got caught? Nobody said anything after that. It doesnt matter how sneaky the cops are. If you get caught speeding take your medicine. It isnt really the point if you agree with the limit or not,

It isnt really the point if you agree with the limit or not, Completely disagree. This isn't North Korea. We should always be allowed to question authority.

Rob1742 Posted 5 October 2014 Author Posted 5 October 2014 Totally agree, so don't speed. It's all about saving lives, or are they not worth saving? Maybe you don't think so. Is it??? Happy if it was, but there is certainly an argument that some of the time it is nothing to do with saving lives and more about revenue streams. To think the police are doing this all the time for the right reasons would be niave
Carl the Llama Posted 5 October 2014 Posted 5 October 2014 In a word, CRAP! Have you ever had to attend a fatal accidents caused by speeding? No. I have, and it is gut wrenching. The correct word would be moron. Because that's what you appear to be after failing to directly answer my simple question (do you believe limits to be 100% rational 100% of the time?) or comprehend my use of airquotes (implying that the speeding in question is done at a low/normal speed relative to the road in question. I'll be specific for you this time: Picture driving late at night on a 70km/h road with a 50km/h stretch where cars sometimes merge from another road and you have a good 400m at least to spot the lights of any cars planning to do so and slow down) and the word "some".
