ithuriel Posted 5 November 2014 Author Posted 5 November 2014 Well, for those that are interested, these two videos show the story of Attack on Titans first Anime season with all relevant spoilers and with the two opening themes, some peeps think a better crossover would have been with the walking dead comic but that would have been a pointless crossover in my view bringing not much new to either title. leicsmac Posted 5 November 2014 Posted 5 November 2014 I think the rise of ubiquitous Internet has hit the anime/manga distribution business in the US and other places pretty hard. When you can get fansubs of an anime a day after it's released in Japan, why are you going to wait six months to pay $40 for the DVD? This has led to a real dip in availability and popularity amongst anyone but really hardcore fans since the boom in the early 2000's. That being said, this crossover with Marvel (who are about the hottest game in film town right now) might lead to some more popularity in the mainstream market, which can only be a good thing. A live action anime/Western comic crossover with a Hollywood budget could make for a pretty interesting and popular film.
ithuriel Posted 5 November 2014 Author Posted 5 November 2014 True, there are a lot of sites but that is due to the huge fan base now and this has lead to more availability of merchandise in the UK, bigger conventions etc., and the release of older titles onto BluRay for companies jumping on the bandwagon, the newest being Anime Limited who are doing a fair few releases and competing for those licenses. Hell, I went into Forbidden Planet last week and there is a large Manga section plus a few bits of merch including one soon to be rare figure I snapped up
