No. :( I just don't feel we have an adequate replacement. Moreover why would he buy Hammond if he had him on loan until December ? Hammond's value is not suddenly going to go shooting up. We needed an out and out goalscorer and we got an attacking midfielder. Consequently I feel we will struggle for the rest of the season. :(:ph34r::huh::unsure: <_<

Thinking along the same lines as me. Elvis hasnt proved himself yet and we had him until december anyway, I think his signing was a PR stunt to make it look like we got 2 signers but instead we just replaced connoly.

We have got two signings. Hammond didn't belong to us. Levein thought he might do okay, took a close look at him during his loan spell and liked what he saw. So do I. Hume looks a gem too and , with Hughes coming back and quite apart from any further loan signings, if the coaches and manager can't make this City team win football matches they're sadly lacking.

I'm curious as to how people think he could have done better when the sale of Connolly appeared to sneak up on us so late - the final day of transfers.

He had a "Plan B" as he stated sometime this past week or so, to deal with a sudden departure, and for all intents and purposes it appears to have been carried out. Although, how much of the plan went ahead will remain a mystery - did we have Boyd in our sights, perhaps?

To move so swiftly in the face of a sudden high profile departure, I think Craig and the board have had a pretty good day.

Could he have done better? Is there ever a time when you can't do better?

Yes, I am pleased - Hume comes highly rated, and Hammond shows some encouraging signs, so I'm glad we've snapped him up so swiftly. Aferall, as noted elsewhere, the situation could be totally different - it's clear that Levein likes what he sees in Hammond - so why wait until January when the fee could have risen to 500k, or if he became a Fulham regular, or another club bid for him too starting a bidding war.

In football and business you can never see too far into the future, so to secure the services of Hammond now I would say was quite prudent.

Very prudent dealings I would say (although I wouldn't have been in a hurry to buy Elvis when his loan spell is only just started). I'm sure Hamill will also breakthrough and there is some competition in the forwards. CL is keeping his powder dry, sitting on a bit of dosh so that if anything goes t*ts up between now and the January window he can strengthen the side as required

not exactly prolific was it?

least hume has some kind of a record

i'm delighted we've given a lower league player a chance, the prospect of a good season getting you in the premiership is enough for any striker to up his game!

I think it's a great piece of business. CL has managed to bring in 2 strikers on permanent deals and secure the club some much needed money. Lets face it, at this moment in time we are very much looking at the need to make the club financially secure as much as promotion etc. (Yes, I know promotion very much increases financial security, but being realistic it's not anywhere near a certainty we'll get promoted )

Both the strikers will come to the club hungry to prove themselves and although they might not end up being the division's top scorers they will hopefully prove to be successful. Also both are still young and should hopefully improve with good guidance and coaching. At 21, Hume could become a very very good player, although not necessarily a goal scorer, so even if we can get 2 good years out of him and sell him at a big profit then I don't think that would be too bad busines in it's own right.

CL has drastically reduced the age of the squad since coming in and I genuinely believe he is focussed on the long term future of the club, something we've not really had in a manager for a lot of years. I just hope that the board support him in his ideas and don't start getting jumpy if promotion doesn't come straight away. More importantly, I hope we, as supporters, can get behind him, and the team to give them the backing that any successful club needs.
