Gené and Tonic Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Are you happy with the loss of Connolly and the signings of Hume and Hammond? I am, but personally I would rather we'd have got another player in as well, a defender or striker, someone like Riordan, because if Hume doesn't perform, we are in for it.
Bert Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 After speaking to a certain person, i've realised it's all good!
Cal Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Could you add another option, 'Could've done better' But im overall happy in the swiftness CL has managed to tie things up, Although i think he's been anticipating the Connolly bid for some time now so has had time to sort out replacements.
Gené and Tonic Posted 31 August 2005 Author Posted 31 August 2005 I'm sure Mr Chainsaw will be able to arange it
New England Fox Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Im happy, I think we got a good price from Wigan, especially if they stay up and we get the extra 1 Million (well you never know). I think both Hume and Hammond will do well for us, they are both young and with plenty to prove and I think they prove to be worthwhile signings. Plus we made a nice 1.25 million profit which means perhaps Craig will be able to bring a couple more players in in Janurary if he feels he needs to.
Muz Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Im fricking delighted , got a text at work from good old Wellman telling me about all the goings on , mixed reactions at the time , but after thinking it through ive realised we have done brilliant today. Well done Mr Levein some great business today!
Simon Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Very, very happy with Levein's work today. I dont see what else he could possibly have done.
Cal Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Perhaps if we got either Boyd or Riordan too, Never have enough strikers
lcfc true blue josh 18 Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 i am glad with the signings, but a bit gutted that dc has left but hopefully elvis and hume will start to fire the goals in
Steven Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 No. I just don't feel we have an adequate replacement. Moreover why would he buy Hammond if he had him on loan until December ? Hammond's value is not suddenly going to go shooting up. We needed an out and out goalscorer and we got an attacking midfielder. Consequently I feel we will struggle for the rest of the season. <_<
Anish Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 I am more than happy with the amount we got for Connolly and I am glad that Levein has signed 2 strikers including Elvis. I haven't yet seen Hume play so I'm not taking anything for granted and I'm not getting carried away like everyone else seems to be. Sorry to be miserable but we don't know whether these deals prove to be a good move for LCFC in the long term...only time will tell.
Gené and Tonic Posted 31 August 2005 Author Posted 31 August 2005 Judging by the goal in the video that was put up, he deffo has the talent. It's down to whether he performs, whether CL can get the best out of him, and whether he slots in well with the rest of the team and is suited to our style of play.
Bluefoxtim Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 No. <_< Because, the situation may change in January, if he goes back in december, he may get a run in the fulham team if he does well for us, even if he doesnt teams may have seen him for us and maybe wanted to put a bid in for him. And CL won't want to be in a bidding war.
Steven Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Here are some fans views. The one that worries me is when he says We've discussed the lad on here many a time and I think i'm right in saying most believe that he is not a natural goalscorer. i would say he is more creative than he is clinical. If you have a poacher alongside him, Humey will create the space and provide the assists for a hatful of goals. So where is our poacher along side ? Sorry for the negativity it is just how I feel.
Gené and Tonic Posted 31 August 2005 Author Posted 31 August 2005 Abbott for Leicester! Are we able to loan someone t any point in the season? If so, if it doesn't go to plan, Riordan on loan for with a view to a permanent move? Boyd? Abbott?
woznotwos Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 connolly was a good player but i hardly think his goals were making or breaking the team...as for the new boy hume , poor blokes being told hes not good enough to fill connollys boots b4 he's kicked a ball in a city strip. One thing i know it'll make the next couple of matches interesting,im really pleased that we snapped up Hammond too,i thought he'd looked quite good and was worried about not getting him permanently...job done and 1.25 mill in the back pocket for January sales window, and a poss mill to follow close season.CL's done us prou d imo
City Fan Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 I still think we need to loan a striker. Because all we have is Hume, Elvis, Donkey 1 and Donkey 2.
rossporterlc Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 could have done better but in the time available did pretty well
cisono Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 could have done better but in the time available did pretty well I also thought it was going to be a total disaster this morning, but then felt somewhat pleased at the close of business.
Albeano Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Im happy with gettin a bit of money in and getting Iain Hume in. I think he could do well for us. Not sure about Elvis though. We shud of waited untill the end of his loan before signing him permantly. I thought we could of got 1 or 2 more players in on loan. A defender or right midfielder perhaps? But otherwise im happy with the signing of hume.
Leicester_Mad Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 No. Selling a top Championship striker for someone with 0 goals and a League 1 striker......
Thracian Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Here are some fans views. The one that worries me is when he says So where is our poacher along side ? Sorry for the negativity it is just how I feel. Just about right for Dickov then? It'd be nice but I can't imagine getting Riordon on loan. Dickov's spirit might rub off too.
fox65 Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 We will miss the movement of DC, Elvis is willing and enthusastic, but as he the quality? Lets hope Iain Hume is the key!
Thracian Posted 31 August 2005 Posted 31 August 2005 Decent day's work. You can always do better I suppose but the club has benefitted in lots of ways and the idea of Elvis, Hume, Hamill all chomping at the bit and trying to make a name for themselves gives us far more scoring options than we had at the end of last season. If CL adopts a shoot on sight policy, and no-one gets uptight if they miss a few, confidence should grow. I'd be happier still if we could get a specialist striker on loan and if we could find a decent leader for the defence from somewhere. I know it's premature but does anyone know if Stearman's got leadership qualities? He's such a positive and decisive footballer it wouldn't surprise me. Is he really not yet ready for centre-back cos I can hardly wait? The future's bright. The future's Blue and White.
