lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Chelsea's medical team and management must be taking the piss with Terry. They persist in playing him, and every time he plays he gets injured. Gotta feel for the poor bastard, even though he does play for Chelsea. Injured Terry taken to hospital England captain John Terry has been taken to hospital after receiving a sickening blow to the head during the Carling Cup final. The Chelsea defender was accidentally kicked in the face by Arsenal's Abou Diaby as he tried to head the ball inside the Gunners penalty area. The injury happened after 56 minutes of the final with the score at 1-1. Medical staff from both clubs helped put Terry in a neck brace and he was carried off with an oxygen mask. Fans of both teams at the Millennium Stadium, who had been hushed as Terry lay very still in the wake of the blow to his head, applauded the England skipper from the field. There was blood on Terry's face as soon as the incident happened and he seemed to be possibly unconscious at first, although before leaving the field it looked as though he was responding to questions. Terry had only just recovered from damaged ankle ligaments, which he suffered in the Champions League tie at Porto, to play in the final. He was carried off seven minutes into that game but recovered quicker than medical staff expected. BBC Football
Brainy Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 You can't help but think that Mourinho doesn't really care about his players' safety Terry playing when carrying an injury.. crocked. Cech coming back to action - risky.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Author Posted 25 February 2007 In fairness, in the absence of Terry and Cech, Chelsea were fooking poor, so it's not surprising he rushed them both back (repeatedly). Still, incredible bad luck for Terry.
Brainy Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 But what means more to you? Your safety, or your football club?
Wezleylowski Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 god i cannot believe terrys luck atm first the ligaments then this, i think that incident had an impact on petr cezch and im pretty sure he will be the first to send him a get well soon card GET WELL SOON JT
lildave3 Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Just the way Chelsea's season seems to be going, one bad thing after another. Apart from winning this final of course
Simi Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 I'm sure anyone that has had a similar injury playing felt the full extent of that challenge. At the time you could see how much of a whack he took. Hope he recovers well and quickly.
Bert Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 At first i thought he was just laying on the pitch with his eyes closed 'cos he couldn't believe he had missed, then i realised it was serious...
Simi Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Doctors say no spinal damage. But going for a scan on neck and head. No serious damage is thought.
Simi Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Terry has left hospital and back at the stadium.
Maybes Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 When he was lying there the first thoughts were that he had swallowed his tongue. Hope he gets better soon

Hope he gets better soon If his recent record is anything to go by, he'll be back in training on Wednesday and in action next weekend. Oh, and when he returns to action, he'll have to come off the pitch again.

lcfc_jme Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Terry is a very brave and gutsy defender - launched himself in at it and, quite accidentally, caught a vicious blow to the head. It's unfortunate for the lad as he's definitely a quality player. Maybe this time though the Chelsea backroom staff should let him fully recover from everything before chucking him back in at the deep end?

You'd think so with his recent record... but no, they'll throw him back in.
lcfc_jme Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 You'd think so with his recent record... but no, they'll throw him back in. I think you may be right. Their defence seems to fall apart without him in it, and with them still challenging on 3 fronts this season, they're definitely going to need him in there. Stupid managing and handling if you ask me though.

When Terry was going off I thought it was very sad to see Abromovich sitting there as if nothing had happened.

When Terry was going off I thought it was very sad to see Abromovich sitting there as if nothing had happened. They said they're going to try and cut down on the amount of new players they bring in and the amount they spend if they possibly can - hence the probable reason they didn't splash out. Abramovich is hardly going to be moved by it though is he? If he was bothered about safety of any players, he wouldn't allow Terry to be picked when not 100% fit. He's there to win trophies with Chelsea, not to protect anyone.
Filbert_Ross Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Terrys previous injury had no bearing on what happened today, I cant see what point some are trying to make.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 February 2007 Author Posted 25 February 2007 Terrys previous injury had no bearing on what happened today, I cant see what point some are trying to make. The point is, he's made some remarkably quick recoveries and been thrown back into the action. He was supposedly injured before Porto, yet they played him (it didn't last long, he came off injured). He was supposedly going to miss the game today - but again he was forced off. When he did his back in... he should have been out for months, perhaps... but was back much sooner than anyone expected he ought to be... The injuries may not have been related, but it just seems at the minute that they're begging for something to happen to him - he's injured and it's all doom and gloom but he's ready for action within hours... only for him to get injured again anyway. He's having a bit of an unlucky spell with injuries at the minute, it seems, yet they keep throwing him back in at a moments notice... a little unwise, perhaps?
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 He walked around and was on the coach on the way home. I think he play Saturday. He'll still be in pain, I've had something similar happen to me whilst playing rugby and I left the ground walking about with a smile on my face, However I was ill for a good week after. I had constant head aches and wasn't able to keep any food down for about 3 days, took me about a week to recover. If he wasn't a proffesional footballer I think any docter would say no sports for two weeks.
SystonFox Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 i thought he was dead lying their motionless arms by his side. was a sickening image.

Geo V Posted 26 February 2007 Posted 26 February 2007 I saw the incident as it happened and you get that sickening feeling as players from both sides started to panic. Those physios seem to take an age to come onto the pitch as well. One thing though, if a player has been passed fit by the club doctors then they should play! Cech has recovered and leaving him out for another 3 months wouldnt change anything. John Terry was passed fit and may have had an injection to assist his ankle problems but I can remember reading somehwere ages ago that 90% of players have played for their clubs with knocks, many that needed injections before kick-off. These guys are athletes and should be treated accordingly. They have a financial value which stops clubs from taking undue risks. Terry would not have played if they thought that his original injury was to flare up or have lasting damage as he is way too important to them. The injury he got yesterday has no link to the one he had before!
