  1. I know what you mean... there's no real benchmark in this competition
  2. There's no such thing as an easy penalty no matter where you put the shot. Put it where you feel confident to score. The advantage will always lie with the taker.
  3. Good saves... poor penalties
  4. Scans better if you just use "Cristiano"
  5. I didn't say I "believe" it's undemocratic. I said it "feels" undemocratic because I didn't fully understand vote swapping. Thankfully, @FoxesDeb explained it and now I get it.
  6. Being indulged by many of his team mates too.
  7. Keown's a Ronaldo cock sucker.
  8. I don't understand it tbh. So, say I want Labour to win in Market Bosworth but I know it's going to Tory. Then by swapping my vote with someone (a Labour voter in a Tory majority constituency) a Labour candidate will have my swappers vote here, and a Tory voter will have my vote in their constituency?
  9. I've followed the link and read the premise but I still don't understand. It feels a bit... undemocratic?

  11. I'm glad I've retired. I've talked to previous colleagues who, during the strikes, found their shifts extended to, in some cases 18 hours, due to the backlog created by the delays in A&E caused by the lack of junior doctors. They mostly supported the doctors but it's not just patients and their families who suffer the consequences. Edit: I tried rewriting this using the Microsoft Co-Pilot AI editor. The result made me come across as quite intelligent (which is pretty artificial).
  12. For comparison: HGV Class 1 Driver – General Roles In this position, drivers can earn between £18.52 and £28.62 an hour, depending on experience and the style of driving. This post is available to newly qualified drivers, but all applicants must perform a short driving assessment.
  13. For the record: Who are ‘junior doctors’? People who have qualified from medical school, but are still training to become specialists, are commonly known as “junior doctors”. During this period, they are doctors who work with patients under the supervision of a more senior doctor, usually a consultant. It is not true, as one post seems to claim, that people need to do foundation training and specialist training “to become a doctor”. People become doctors when they complete a medical degree, and go on to be provisionally registered with a licence to practise while completing their first year of foundation training. This post also said that a doctor’s starting salary is £28,274. This is the minimum figure for the 2002 contract, which in England is closed to new entrants, so no new doctors would receive it. What are they paid? According to the latest workforce data, there were 72,318 people working in NHS England, whether full- or part-time, within the four broad grades considered to make up “junior doctors”. - 7,738 in Foundation Year 1, 2023/24 basic pay £32,397 - 7,159 in Foundation Year 2, 2023/24 basic pay £37,303 - 21,239 in Core Training, 2023/24 basic pay £43,922 - 36,182 as Specialty Registrars, 2023/24 basic pay £55,328-63,162 Doctors receive rates of basic pay according to their position in a more complex system of pay bands, but the amount that each one earns over the course of a year, or per hour for the work they do, varies from doctor to doctor—according to how much overtime they do, where they work, how many unsocial hours they work, and other factors. In 2023/24, the basic annual pay for a first-year junior doctor in England is £32,397, after the government also announced a pay rise for junior doctors of 6% plus £1,250 each. This began to be paid in autumn 2023, backdated to April. With the hourly pay formula used by the British Medical Association (BMA) last year, this works out at basic pay for the most junior doctors of £15.53 per hour. However, the average or typical junior doctor is not in their first year, and therefore earns much more, even in basic pay. NHS Digital workforce and earnings data suggests that the average full-time junior doctor in the year to September 2023 earned basic pay of about £44,500. Half of these earnings happened in the previous financial year, so the average for 2023/24 will be higher. This figure also does not include any extra earnings, which typically increase junior doctors’ earnings by about a third, some of which comes from working extra hours.
  14. It's frustrating because most dual carriageways have a normal running 70 mph limit and there's no issue. Why indeed does it suddenly become unsafe when a motorway has a lane closed. And it's 50mph for about 40 miles. If they hadn't removed the hard shoulder to make a 4th live lane, people would still be doing 70 with 3 lanes. Although TBH it's pretty much impossible to reach the speed limit on any major motorway even without roadworks. It's also quite amusing to see the signs saying "we are also working night shifts".
  15. GS is going to claim that he chose the team, the formation and the tactics to be sure England got through the group stage as the top team. I actually think that's his approach. Qualify for the knockouts in first place, albeit with boring and lacklustre, but safe performances. I expect that now, in the next phase we'll see a different style of play. More attacking, front footed and quicker with a higher press. I'm no fan of GS but I do feel, having watched previous internationals, that is how he manages the team's progression. I think Sunday's game will be quite different to the last 3 group games. I hope...
  16. Well, I've seen discarded pants in Wicksteed Park. Down by the waterchute. I know you know where that is.
