NB. People can use their money how they like, but caveat emptor and when the market gets volatile when schemes come crashing down, everyone gets hurt - not just the ones directly involved.
-
... and unless that person finds someone to offload that value to soon then they'll lose it all again when the value crashes. But of course they'll stay the course because "hey, it's going to keep going up, right?" That's the sentiment every originator of every pump and dump scheme relies upon to make their money. Pardon my cynicism about this, but there's been so many get-rich-quick ideas like this floated since the dawn of currency. A few people (either lucky or in on it) get rich. The vast majority lose the shirt off their backs.
-
And when that happens, as it always does, the only ones making money are the ones who started it or the ones that have insider information. Trump knows this as well as anyone. It's the 80's/early 90's pump and dump con scheme with more sophistication.

Lots of noise regarding suppression of "free speech" over in the main forum regarding the current state of the club and what should be done about it. Sympathetic, but at the same time there has never been an absolute entitlement to free speech on here or any other UK (or world) platform and I'm not sure what the fuss is about with Mark (regardless of his own feelings on the matter) having to take measures to defend himself from potential legal trouble caused by posts here.

I agree. The thoughts themselves being (mostly) accurate notwithstanding.

Can't really see anything other than political unrest and massive disparity in quality of life within a nation - if not both of those things - everywhere else. If there's examples showing otherwise, then I'd be happy to hear them. But fair enough.
-
Everywhere apart from New Zealand and the Scandic nations, I reckon.

I'm trying to think which is the bigger laugh at the moment tbh: the state of the club or the state of world politics. Of course, the latter is very dark humour.
-
Practically all cryptocurrency schemes are pyramid schemes which are great if you have insider information or are insanely lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, and an absolute con if you don't or aren't.

Thanks for posting these. Fusion always seems the same amount of time away, but it is so important - nay necessary - to crack it.
-
Not sure how well a Farage backed candidate is going to run in London tbh.
-
Oh yes. One can only hope the price does not rise impossibly high for our species, and the others that we try to act as conservator and custodian for.
-
I think so, but I also think there was little he could have said that would have satisfied the person asking. He wasn't the only one playing politics with the issue. Yep. Here's another similar one that I think is apt: “The old world is dying and the new world struggles to be born. Now is the time of monsters.” - Antonio Gramsci

I mean that in the current discussion going on here, I don't think that anyone has said, or even inferred, that there is not a problem, so I think the comment made was a little fallacious. Rather, they've put the problem in context. I'm not really sure what might be wrong with that.
-
Has anyone said there is not a problem, or rather merely appealed (with justification) to bigger problems? (Even though that can be a fallacy in of itself.)

If anything, the digital era has only highlighted such divisions and ease of control. Unfortunately, in today's world, the price for such sentiments is and will be far, far higher than in the past. It may even be absolute.

However Russia are appealing for a dodgy penalty late on and the man in the VAR box is about to change to one who would give it to them.

I think he should have done entirely better and not talked out both sides of his mouth. That there is to be a more detailed inquiry on the matter now is good. I also think that I responded to a post talking about the state of politics in the UK. If folks want to think then referring to other politics in other developed countries being far worse (which is demonstrably true) is a deflection, then so be it, but personally I do think it's relevant to the general topic. This stuff doesn't happen in a vacuum Pretty much, yes.
-
Personal isn't always the same as important, and I was making the (accurate, I hope) point that even though UK politics are viewed by many to be so messed up that someone like Khan rises to high office, situations in other "developed" nations make it look rather tamer by comparison. With that said, there are many places where it is better, the UK citizenry should demand better, and for what it's worth I do think the issue itself needs to be looked at in more detail. (Will anything be enough for some, however?)
-
Tbf, it could be worse. See below. It has been predicted, accurately, for that long, and still people allowed it to happen. What kind of judgement is that on us?

Ben-Gvir and Tal threatening to resign from the Netanyahu cabinet if the peace deal goes ahead. ... exactly how much of a psychopath do you need to be when nearly 50000 lives of the "enemy" aren't enough?

Latest Starship launch not exactly according to plan, then. Super Heavy first stage came back as wanted but Starship upper stage had a fuel leak and went full pyro before reaching orbit.

Evidently Mr Cleverly has learned a lot about both projection and hypocrisy from his counterparts on the other side of the pond. To nowhere near the same degree of course, but the style is recognisable.
-
Yep. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction This gives more detail. But, because we started it, we can also stop it, or at least mitigate it. No room, nor need, for nihilism.
