  1. Revie? Or pretty much any other 70's manager?
  2. Once the penalty taker has taken three steps, the keeper should be allowed to come off the line. No more daft stutter run ups.
  3. ... and with that matter being therefore roughly equal, it comes back to decisions made based on matters of policy. Which is no bad thing. NB. Of course, just a little more integrity on the part of elected officials would be just great.
  4. Yeah, they did the same over on the CC thread. I was hoping for minute scientific reasoning, tbh.
  5. Yep. Can't take it, don't give it. And that goes it both directions.
  6. For now. Those ideas aren't going away.
  7. One would think so, but these days a party that has a policy position on the matter that directly reflects those nutters opinions is polling almost neck and neck with the Tories. So I'm no longer sure there.
  8. I think there's a difference between bringing up the bad in "your own" history, and bringing up the bad in "someone else's" (accurate as either may be), but yeah, fair point. Anyhow, agree with some of the flow here - England will actually perform tonight, come through a nervy 2nd round match by the odd goal and then end up going out to Italy/France/Spain/Germany whenever they meet them. I hope that I'm wrong, though.
  9. The Afghans make it after some proper drama against Bangladesh! India-England and SA-Afghanistan it is.
  10. May I ask why not?
  11. Italy really are maestros of the shithouse.
  12. So what's a person looking to advocate for the future through science to do, other than hope like hell viewpoints like that don't form enough of a bloc to set policy? When you have enough people that simply won't buy into the idea of derived truth at the most fundamental level, then you have a whole lot of problems.
  13. ... and I thought I had a massive hobby horse. (I do though tbf, Gen Chat regulars know.)
  14. Modric with the 60-second redemption arc.
  15. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/climate-and-people/climate-change-heat-related-deaths-lancet-report/ Have a look at what their readership think of empirical scientific evidence published in the most prestigious scientific journals in the comments of this one.
  16. Irresistible force meeting an immovable object here. Good to watch.
  17. This may well be so. However, those he enables and the ones he'll have to set policy for should he ever have the power to do so, could well be. Which means his own leanings in that regard either make him turn on his voter base, or they are irrelevant.
  18. India have a set up now similar to England in ODI around 2019 - 6 or 7 high order batters and only need one of them to fire in any one game to set or chase a commanding total. They look formidable.
  19. The French, for one, evidently haven't read from this particular hymn sheet. I wonder. What was it that Lord Palmerston said about the Irish again?
  20. Agree with all of this, and any sane person should fear where it leads.
  21. Yeah, agreed, so it's as you say.
  22. Not quite in all cases, which is why Farage made the "Green" remark as a distinction here. Boris actually gave something of a shit about environmental protection and making policy for it, so you would think as did most of his supporters. Farage clearly doesn't, so likewise.
  23. Perhaps one day we might be able to make cracks about Germany that don't involve an event 80 odd years ago that has naff all to do with today but is seemingly an obsession with those who didn't even come close to fighting in it. Not today, though, apparently.
  24. Excuse me, we're engaging in irrational hyperbole on this thread, take your rationality somewhere else, please.
