  1. I wish I could say that firstly I was surprised about the way things are proceeding in the US (Project 2025 in progress pretty much down to the crossed "t") and secondly that they won't get much worse barring a drastic growing of spine from the legislature, the high level political opposition to the current administration, and quite frankly, more people at ground level over there.
  2. I really hope that he's slated to do the trophy presentation.
  3. Maximum of four points required tomorrow, probably will be less. You'd think for this Europe team, that would not be a difficult target.
  4. Agreed, quiet and thorough quality on his part.
  5. Rory, Rahmbo and Rose all leading from the front. Great stuff.
  6. I'll be honest, I've had to defend what I am sure are matters of absolutely elementary and vital scientific policy much more on FB and other social media than here. What is worrying is that on matters like that, the combination of FPTP and the idea of the talking shop where no one is invalidated but no one is right means that a significant well organised minority can cast a very long, very important and possibly fatal shadow.
  7. Inb4 the lock.
  8. I can see the lament here, but quite frankly that particular issue extends far beyond the one matter and good line of reasoning has allowed people with "genuine concerns" to elect or be in a position to elect policy positions like believing paracetamol causes autism, and approving mass oil and gas burning for energy generation in spite of the very well documented facts about the damage it is doing now and the much more massive damage it will do soon. Discourse is fine, but when that bleeds over into obviously harmful policy positions in the name of all speech should be totally free, even free from consequences, then questions might start being asked.
  9. Welcome to the world of social media, where perception means much more than fact and it's bleeding over into policymaking with significant negative effects.
  10. "And it's all gone quiet over there..."
  11. Different, more overt blend of similar sentiments IMO, but you could be right. Who can guess. As do I and agreed, in that order.
  12. It's an unfortunate thing about such matters that the key reason they succeed is precisely because of that denial until it's too late and the bodies are piling up. But back on topic, Rose looking in the form to break bodies and spirits himself right now.
  13. Coming back to this as a point and the primary cause tbh.
  14. Well done, Red Roses. Well done indeed.
  15. Holding the line and ruling the scrum here. Need one more score to make it safe though. Edit: and there it is. England have been so clinical when in the opposition 22. Always getting points.
  16. "... can we play you every week?" Really hope that firstly the Euro players don't shit it from here and secondly that MangoFelon#47 is slated to present the trophy.
  17. Rory Mac the Machine.
  18. 2-2 and going into tomorrow with a 5-3 lead would be just fine.
  19. Division, driven by lust for and abuse of power happened. A pernicious desire for inequality in the name of self interest, where one or more groups must always be "lesser". Unfortunately it's happened rather a few times throughout history, and almost always ends the same way. This time, though, the scale is much, much larger than its ever been.
  20. I can understand the indignation at this, but I'm hoping there will also be more indignation directed both at the man who said the things to start all of this off, and those - both over the pond and here - who think he and his UK proxy are somehow a good thing.
  21. That sounds like a wonderful idea right up to the point where the first boat gets sunk because of direct fire or the first desperate person with nothing left to lose keeps coming and gets shot. Mind you, some people have been calling for taking the "human" out of this humanitarian problem for a while now so it might not matter.
  22. And to record, for whoever may be left afterwards, exactly who killed the world.
  23. Whether they think it "won't get that bad" or not.
  24. I'd tentatively agree with this but there is a rather nasty undercurrent of nationalism working its way into seemingly everything over there, one might just hope this golf is one of the rare exceptions.
  25. Well, they gave Kissinger one, I guess....
