  1. This is one of the most accurate summaries of where we’re at that I’ve seen in years
  2. Also, going back to the ‘leaving early’ furore. People were streaming out of the Stadium of Light from 85 minutes. The ground was half empty for that extraordinary finale. This is not a phenomenon unique to LCFC
  3. Suggests to me that Kimber has talent, but insufficient application. Budinger arguably falls into the same category.
  4. Doesn’t really feel like we’re even trying very hard. I was tempted to buy a membership out of loyalty, as I rarely go to Grace Road (even though I’m a regular down the road), but why bother if the players don’t seem bothered. Three batters out stumped is just mindless
  5. He was on fire until we made his loan into a permanent deal
  6. Last time we played at Palace it led to the demise of King Brendan
  7. Yes. It’s hardly inspiring me to rush out and buy a membership for next season
  8. And to be fair, if only a handful of the public feel inclined to watch the product, it does not have a viable future. A £3.7 million subsidy from the ECB, but still we make losses of half a million and have debts of £4 million. Why on earth would you invest in that model unless you have more money than sense?
  9. Apparently also true in reality. A properly good man.
  10. Sort of cricket - give yourself a treat and watch Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams. Inspiring.
  11. Final three games: Patel Evans Rahane Kimber Holland Cox Rehane Trevaskis Scriven Green Wood one last chance for Evans to breakthrough at the top of the order. Experience for the two young bowlers. Forget about promotion, we’re not good enough to be promoted. Wright has struggled to take a wicket and Hill has struggled to score a run, so take them out of the firing line. And don’t waste money on a three week loan.
  12. I suspect he’s paid a pittance. He’s fine. Some of the other commentators around the country sound like they’re half way through a cheese and pickle bap and a pint of Old Thumper when they commentate. Proper CAMRA badgers
  13. Last season they stopped me going in with a woeful pie and chips I’d bought in haste at one of the vans behind the East stand. Not sure what they thought I’d do with it
  14. My goodness we’d be weak without our overseas players. Week in, week out. Handscomb has been excellent.
  15. Agree with you. Apparently he’s the nicest chap imaginable and he will be embarrassed and perplexed by his performances.
  16. Cox missing for the second week in a row. Not listed as injured.
  17. Josh Hull added to the England squad for the second test. I think that might give us some much needed money !
  18. In the case of this particular game all those who left early have been receiving regular counselling since the time we hosted Spurs in 2022, and had been advised to do this to protect their mental health.
  19. No shame in losing to Somerset, who are an excellent club and have been for years. County can be proud of their tournament. if we can pick up a couple of wins in the last few 4 day games this will have been a very decent season
  20. And indeed the rugger buggers. Given rugby is traditionally a more middle class sport, astonishing there isn’t greater crossover
  21. Well, some common sense would have been helpful. We have a limited budget. We know and accept that. So why spend (and I’m guessing here) a quarter of it on a centre back when we have loads of centre backs? I was expecting some logic.
  22. Remember Currie was playing for us on loan last season, and then against us for Hampshire in the final!
  23. I’m not a huge Olympics fan, but looking at this highlights packages it is hard not to admire the sheer scale of the thing. And to enjoy a global festival of sport. We have such potential as a species. We just need to stop allowing lunatics to run the place.
  24. If true, that’s pretty horrendous given we get about 75% of our income from ECB grants. We don’t even have a vast playing staff anymore. Let’s hope it’s not completely accurate. Who is Bill Maddy by the way?
  25. That’s one of the bravest wins of recent times. A similar flow as last year’s final, and most welcome distraction from the shit show down the road!
