If you want to be more in sync with singers then maybe being at the opposite end of the ground to where people are consistently doing it isn't the best idea. Get over to SK1!

My father-in-law (PNE fan) reckons they're bugging Leicester for more tickets.

Chatted to a Bristol City fan on the train who couldn't believe how dense the away end had been doing that.

No City game this Saturday ... so let's all support the County

Yes, credit to the club for the reception. Really fantastic. The squad looked like they were having a great time. Lots of filming going on when the lap of honour hit SK1 and last Saturday's chants got going again. -

Looks like the half-time parade is on, judging by this. Well done all who contacted the club! -
Been trying to watch the full game of last Saturday back in stages. God, I hope we make a habit of getting to finals regularly again. What a day.
-
I'll vouch for this being the honest truth too.

The Winks chant is four lines, a piece of piss and sounds great. Players deserve their own chants to reasonably unique tunes, otherwise you end up with the daft situation recently where we had chants to 'La Bamba' for about four different players. Mad that we're at the stage where singing anything beyond just the player's name is considered fvcking Dostoyevsky.

Was going to post this in the "I've got something to say..." thread but thought I'd start a new topic as people in there wanted new Gen Chat threads. This had me howling this morning... Let's see your favourite put-downs from the World Wide Web. Please keep whimsical replies involving daft stuff politicians have said to a minimum, if possible.

Well quite, but the point I'm making is that there feels like a genuine connection and a desire from the club to engage and attract the local community. Like you allude to, that's not always successful. Although often that's due to poor scheduling which is beyond their control.

Being at the cricket on Saturday made me realise just how much more I felt part of a club that truly represents the community who come out to support it - and how much the relationship with the fans actually meant to the players too. I don't think footballers themselves are any different in nature, but most just have that instinct bred out of them by corporate "tweet something like..." drones behind the scenes. LCFC definitely haven't been arsed about retaining my custom for a number of years, whereas LCCC definitely are. Food for thought.

Lyth still slashing to slip like almost every time he got out playing for England, then.

Worth pointing out that it was the Merc's back page yesterday, with two pages instead. Yes, it's absolutely baffling that they wouldn't publish it online too but if people want them to value cricket as a sport then they need to buy the paper when it's the top sports story in Leicestershire. -
Heat of the moment comment but Thomas told RL on Saturday he'd be getting him signed up today.
-
If you're talking league clubs then they have Crawley too. Northants only has Northampton Town but both of those counties also have quite a lot of well-supported non-league clubs.
-
Good. Fully deserved. Hope they were utterly miserable watching our lot win the Cup on Saturday after all the needless aggro they gave them last week.
-
Yeah, quite. In the East Midlands it'd be us and then Notts. And if you're talking all sports across the historic counties then Lancashire would be streets ahead with Middlesex or Yorkshire probably second and us most likely being the best of the rest. Glamorgan could probably take it on a technicality as I'd imagine the vast majority of Welsh rugby and football champion clubs have come from there, plus the odd English trophy for the cricket and football clubs too.
-
I don't think there are really many counties across the country that you can have much of a like-for-like comparison with, given we're a one-club city and county across four different sports. We're certainly in quite a unique situation football and cricket-wise, whereas on Saturday Hampshire had Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth supporters and fans of the London clubs (one even had a Man United bucket hat on) at the final. Brighton and Sussex or Northampton and Northamptonshire might be closest? But even then the former has never had a top rugby team as far as I'm aware, and the latter's never had a basketball team of any note.

Sorry, I've already trademarked the name 'Leicester Arctic Foxes' for when we finally get an ice hockey team.

Sam Evans told Radio Leicester he was singing along in the field.

The wicket celebrations were wilder than most goal celebrations at City these days. -
The company that owns them is basically only interested in football these days sadly.

They did. Pleasing. Get them parading the trophy at half-time next Saturday now! -
Oh come on. This gatekeeping is just daft. It's days like yesterday that can give people the bug. I took a mate to his first ever cricket match yesterday and he had a great time. I hope he comes back and I'll certainly be trying to get him down to Grace Road next summer. Anyway, even if it was just a one-off for a lot of people then so what? It was just great to see so many people enjoying themselves who wouldn't ordinarily go to the cricket.
