  1. Those "few pence" will save me in the region of £400 over the next year. As my nan used to say, look after the pennies etc.
  2. Not sure we are a position to know as TV does not replay and examine over every little incident as they do in the PL, thankfully.
  3. TheT&C's require you to take an intelligent charge at least once a month. The day rate is approx 2p more than the regulators price cap, the night rate though is around 20p less than the cap. So if you were to charge just once a month for most people IO would be cheaper than variable rates.
  4. Isn't it going to be an indoor arena, in any case it would not have room for a full sized pitch, or am I missing something here.
  5. According to their own website the capacity is just 2,000.
  6. Irony is not dead then
  7. Then explain how continuing to issue licences for drilling is helping in that aim, and please don't continue to claim that would help the environment as I and others have debunked that argument many times now.
  8. What are you on about, it is not me suggesting that the citizens of this country stand still on climate change whilst telling poorer citizens of other countries to invest resources on fixing the problems we caused. China per capita is way poorer than the UK. We also should recognise that one of the main drivers of the UK reduction in CO2 emissions was the exporting of our manufactoring to the likes of China so that we could have cheap goods on the back of their cheap labour. Now if you were saying the countries of the west would be better investing in green technologies in China and India then you may be correct.
  9. Then how do you think we should go about that diplomatically, remembering that we remain in the top half a dozen for historical CO2 emissions. Not sure telling China that they have to make their citizens even poorer whilst we sit on our hands, will cut it.
  10. Sorry quoted the wrong post🤦

  12. For 50 years we have not had the refinery capacity for our own oil, where do your think the investment is going to come from to develop them now when such a facility will have a 20 year life at best.
  13. How many times does it need to be said that we don't have and never will have the refining capacity for the type of oil extracted on our shores.
  14. The licenses have already ady been issued so that ship has sailed.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/58160547 Well we are certainly not on track to meet our own targets.
  16. If that was going to be the case then you may (but I don't think so), but the UK simply does not have the refining facilities for the type of oil we extract and their is no plan to develope them. In fact it was recently announced that one of our few refineries will shortly be closing leaving us more reliant on imported oil.
  17. Legal routes are not the be all and end all, but these so called boat people have already ensured very difficult journeys to get to France,if they could apply in France then without doubt but there would be fewer left to cross by dinghy. That would help in deterring the people traffickers in France as there would no longer be a critical mass of people to make their illegal activity worthwhile. The problem is this government have put all their eggs in the basket that was always doomed to failure and will remain so.
  18. They are protesting only because this Government changed its policy on the granting licences to extract oil nothing more nothing less. Whilst up to the last couple of years the UK have been doing very well and Governments pre Truss do deserve some praise for that. However if we keep on the current tractectory we will soon fall behind the rest of the world. Given that we are in the top half a dozen in terms of historical emissions and we have an obligation to show an example to the rest of the world. The link shows nothing of the sort, it is merely a list of countries, in no particular order, that have made progress and is by no means inclusive.
  19. Then go on tell us how that can change in the short time we have before we have to stop burning fossil fuels, when we have not in the last 50 years found the investment needed to refine the oil we extract from our oil fields.
  20. 80% of the oil.extracted in UK waters is exported so actually producing more of our own will have only a minimal effect on the overall environment.
  21. The legislation was enacted over a year ago, yet they are still getting into boats. Why would anyone think they this would act as a deterent for people who are willing to pay what little they've got to get in a dingy to cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the worle, is beyond me. Given also that they will have around a 1 in 500 chance of being sent to Rwanda if they were successful in getting here. The money would have been much better spent on clearing the backlog so that those without a right to asylum (the minority remember) could be sent home and the remainder given work to earn their keep.
  22. But no one is suggesting the oil taps are turned off today, this year or in the next decade
  23. The costs coming down the line as a result of us issuing further licences to drill oil will be far far greater. Also how much does the Government subsidise the iolo industry, haven't heard you complaining about that.
  24. I'm by no means an expert, but if only the UK go for net zero then of course it will mean very little for our citizens as the whole world will be screwed, but no one is proposing that are they.
  25. I'll wager every PL ref has a higher IQ than ther average poster on this thread.
