My only real concern at the minute is that we look a bit nervous. Another game where patience was key, another game where the opposition were happy to sit deep, with the midfield 5 yards in front of the defence and the wingers doubled up on and try to hit us on the break.

If we have a certain amount of first time players away then they’ll get re arranged. Which for us is for very plausible. Matches in League One and League Two can be postponed during international breaks due to players being selected for international matches. The English Football League (EFL) allows clubs to postpone fixtures should they receive a sufficient number of call-ups. At least three of players have to be selected for their country's senior, under-21, under-20 or under-19 sides in order to request a postponement. International age group players only qualify if they have: Started at least 25% of their club's matches Featured in a club's previous five first-team matches If a player is signed by a club in either late August or during the January transfer window and they then get called up, a pro rata basis is used to determine if that player is available. A team is also allowed to request a postponement if both the first and second choice goalkeepers are called up too. Players signed on loan also count. So it’s not going to take a lot really.

The only thing we need to beat against Mexico is the atmosphere. Mexico are in one of the easiest groups and haven’t really pulled up many trees.

They probably should’ve had a penalty. Was always going to be a different game to Croatia. Ghana knew a draw pretty much guarantees them the next round. They defended well and were very disciplined. After the Croatia performance most of us were probably expecting more of the same, but I say it time and time again, it’s so hard to play against that low block, missed a couple of really golden opportunities. My biggest criticism was that it was slow and ponderous for a lot of the game. Moving the ball a bit faster from side to side may have opened up more avenues. But Ghana were quick to double up on either winger, and then it just went back to try and create an opening. It’ll likely be the same on Saturday, but against a team with less quality that are already out. Expecting a win with us topping the group.

A really good second half performance after looking a bit nervy when they got into our final third in the first half. Put ourselves under a bit of needless pressure at times, but when we broke their press we look decent going forward. Their keeper’s kept it from being 6 or 7.

I half agree, so hard to move it fast when you’re up against a block like this.
