  1. From the Non League Paper. Doesn't appear that they tried particularly hard to find new owners. Chairman Glyn Rennocks declared “enough was enough” having stunned the Non-League fraternity by culling senior men’s football at Coalville Town. Rennocks announced on Friday that he had “taken the difficult decision to step away” and disbanded the Southern League Premier Central side amid costs that had “spiralled”. The bombshell landed just five days after Coalville had announced the retention of one player, “positive discussions” with others and that “multiple new signings” had been secured. News of the team’s demise included confirmation that Ravens manager Ian King had been informed of the decision earlier the same day. In an interview with The NLP, Rennocks confirmed Coalville’s teams at under-21 and youth level, plus all female teams, would continue from the club’s Owen Street base. The entity behind the senior side - Coalville Town Football Club Limited - is to be closed down with sole director Rennocks promising to pay all creditors and leave it with “a clean bill of health”. He will stay involved as one of four directors of Coalville Town Youth Football Club Limited which will run the rest of the show. “Running a Non-League club now is getting beyond sustainable so I decided enough was enough.”he said, “I have done it for more than 40 years and it was not a decision I took lightly, that’s for sure.” Asked whether a takeover had been discussed, Rennocks replied: “I have spoken to various people but getting someone to invest in a Non-League club is pretty much asking them whether they have money they want to chuck away.” Adding that they were “not so much takeover talks”, he said there was “no appetite for it among the people I have spoken to”. “We haven’t advertised or gone out of our way but when you don’t have an asset - we don’t own the ground - it becomes more difficult,” he said. Voluntary was “not an option” for Rennocks who added: “If we just dropped down I would still want to get back to where we are which completes the circle again. If I do something, I want to win.” He would be “open minded” if someone else came forward to run the senior side but confirmed it would have to fit with the plans for the rest of the club. “We didn’t get to conversations as detailed as that in all honesty, but yes, that would have to be the case, 100 per cent,” he said. The statement also referred to the club’s relationship with landlords North West Leicestershire District Council which Rennocks said had “diminished, especially since a certain councillor came to prominence”. He was guarded when asked about that, replying: “I know councils don’t have the finances they used to have but it has certainly become very difficult.” “The attitudes of certain individuals have not helped - the only way they helped was to get to the decision that I reached.” It brings to an end a whirlwind 21 years since promotion from county football, including two further promotions, an FA Vase final at Wembley, trips to Wycombe Wanderers and Charlton Athletic in the first round of the FA Cup and going within 90 minutes and goal difference of reaching Step 2. With the league allocations having been announced last week, the vacancy created in the Southern Premier Central will be “dealt with at the discretion of the (FA’s Alliance) Committee in order to minimise disruption”. When Walton Casuals pulled out of Step 3 at a similar stage 2 years ago, the gap was filled by a reprieve in that division rather than assessing points per game ratios. If that was repeated, Hitchin Town would be in line to stay up.
  2. We don't have a reserve side.
  3. I don't think there will be any football in Coalville for a minimum of 12 months. Without funds we can't be allocated to any league. I'm truly heartbroken over this, but if something can be salavaged in the future, I'd like to be a part of creating it. It seems criminal to let it all go to waste.
  4. I was hoping McManus would stay. Seemingly the pull of working with JG again was too great. He was Coalville’s best player in the last 1/4 of the season and provided an aerial threat we’d lacked for a while.
  5. JDC has left to challenge himself at Step 2. I wonder where? He's a lucky boy to get a move upwards.
  6. Also, every team in that league will raise their game against Nuneaton next season.
  7. As expected Eliot Putman has left Coalville.
  8. Especially with them having an artificial surface. Can definitely see him wanting Putnam.
  9. Time will tell. We won't need an adundance of strikers.
  10. And now Carter. Can’t say I’m surprised at either of them leaving. More to follow.
  11. Paul White has left Coalville.
  12. Corby are on a good run and have only lost 3 away from home all season. It looks to be Anstey’s toughest remaining fixture. You would think they need to win out.
  13. We have 1 fit sub today. That’s a lot of unavailability in a short timeframe. And top goal scorer on the bench. I think it’s quite telling. That said, it isn’t a bad game.
  14. Cheers. It has left me questioning my life choices at certain moments. Not wildly optimistic. It's a big summer coming up with a probable squad overhaul. I think after 10-15 games next season we can start to judge if King has been a good appointment or not.
  15. I haven't regretted it. Coalville v Alvechurch tomorrow marks my 150th consectuive game following Coalville. A run stretching back to October 2020.
  16. A solid defence and goalkeeper who were all there last season. A crap pitch enabling a tremendous unbeaten home record. Keeping hold of a good manager when threatened with relegation last season, and some astute signings. It's a small squad. A lot of weeks they've only had 3 or 4 on the bench. It'll be interesting to see how they fare in the NLN.
  17. And some of the players we want to keep might end up elsewhere. It's gonna be a busy and intriguing summer.
  18. Another lifeless display from Coalville devoid of actual shots on target for the most part. We look like a side where half the players already know they won't be here next season.
  19. Raheem Sterling now channeling his inner Robert Huth.
  20. His inner Steve Guppy. What a goal!
  21. Rinse and repeat today. One up front does not work. We were bright today for 10-15 minutes, but two gifts and a poor decision from the ref did for us. The better team won, they could have had 5, but we have to do better than 2 shots on target in 90 minutes. The lack of appreciation for a large away contigent from the players/management at the end didn't sit well with me either. Piss poor all around.
  22. The most entertainng part of the evening was arguing with the Leicestershire FA officials about where we could stand. Suffice to say we won the argument and were allowed to stand in the pissing rain.
  23. I was told the same, but he wanted a bigger playing budget than we were willing to provide.
  24. There’s Prem North/South in the UCL. Skeggy are in Prem North, but I imagine Nuneaton would be placed in Div 1, which is Step 6, with Kirby Muxloe, Saffron Dynamo etc.
