I would go with this, maybe have Monga on and Mavadidi up front. Last season VK would try and support Mavadidi but he would ignore him, try him with Monga. Thomas has proven to be useless in a support roll. JV has to stop slowing everything down and creating the press and problems at the back. The senior prem experienced players have proven to be donkeys, hopefully the manager has finally realised Ayew is a massive problem, but I doubt it.
-
He needs to start throwing the ball out quickly instead of waiting and then passing to JV who stinks it out even more.
-
JV is at fault for this too many time but managers don’t stop it. For someone so big he might be weaker than Daka. Both our Danes are weak. It’s the same as Soumare watching runners and leaving it for someone else to deal with and chasing when it’s too late.
-
We just need to play quickly and stop the 10 passes side to side and back before Jakob boots it out or back to their midfield. Our wingers are always in space until JV walks to the halfway line and passes backwards. JV and Thomas ruin any chance of quick breaks. It’s frustrating watching JV wait to invite a press to hopefully create space, but usually creates a problem.

Monga, Mav & Fatawu. Ramsey/Page JJ & Winks with Ricardo as support. No point playing Ayew anymore, he won’t change and he isn’t offering anything and continues to do the same poor decisions as he does every game. I would rather have youthful arrogance and energy over Ayew’s “experience” and unadaptable ability. He isn’t a team player, we need a team more than anything after the dross at problems at the club, JV has to pass to Winks straight away and Jakob has to have confidence in throwing the ball out quickly. They create their own pressure too often by pissing around. The team need to spend all day watching Vardy’s goal against Man Utd to break the consecutive record.

Stick Mavadidi up top. Daka is useless and will never come good. He could start by getting Ayew to stop playing like he does. Train and coach him to do a role that is useful for the team. Stay near the goal and kick the ball towards it is a start. He needs to start being a manager and actually have some tactics and get the players to follow them. Individually they are playing exactly the same as under Ruud. Collectively who knows what he wants them to do. Walk to the half way line and then pass backwards inviting pressure and giving the ball away. Everyone standing back to admire Mav’s step overs and cut back compilation or watching Abdul try and skin 2 players with zero help or runners. I’d like to see some style or at least correcting the errors that are holding us back.

Monga needs and deserves a strong role model. I think Ricardo is great and happy he is the captain but we need someone who isn’t afraid to say the obvious hard truths We need someone like Jordan Henderson who makes sure others are working hard doing their job while protecting the team. -

The low blocks happen because JV lets them drop deep by taking too long to pass the ball from the back. He gives the opposition time to double up on the wingers and ignores them when they are calling for the ball unmarked. More poor tactics the manager is oblivious to or thinks is working. The same with Jakob being too scared to throw the ball to start a counter attack quickly. -

Monga picking up bad habits from Ayew and Mavadidi. We need senior players who don’t mind saying it how it is. I remember when Madison dived and got sent off, he said he got hammered by the seniors. Our senior leads by example and dives as a style of play. -
I’m not wrong though? He has a world of data and content to check yet he is playing them the same way and making the same mistakes. His clean slate waffle at the start of the season is playing out exactly like we knew it would. Have any of our players improved? What is our style of play and what is working? Pass the ball to Monga or Fatawu and hope they skin 3 players? The Ayew set pieces and famous hold up play?
-
He is in the same category as Cooper and RVN, maybe even worse. The mistakes have already been made and the evidence is there for all to see from previous season. He is making the same mistakes, playing these donkeys the same way with even less attacking tactics against weaker opposition.
-
With Winks finding JJ quickly to get the ball into space instead of trying to do neat little passes in congested areas only for them to get countered easily. The manager won’t as I feel he hasn’t got any ideas on how to get them attacking, otherwise we would have. He will play the same players, the same way. Fullbacks need to continue running and help the wingers, not just stand back and wait for the ball so they can pass backwards. Ayew needs to stop drifting into the areas and standing next to Mavadidi. Mavadidi needs to stop trying to do everything in his bag of tricks to avoid taking a curling shot or cross. When he keeps it simple and direct he can find areas. Fatawu needs support and runners.

I’m not convinced by Marti or the football at all. The same mistakes are being played out in real time as the last two managers but somehow even less attacking. Enzo had a style of play and everyone had a role. It feels like he’s a substitute teacher or a Sunday dad and he’s letting them play how they want so they like him. I’m not sure that the manager has an actual style of play or tactics. It starts with the slow walking football from JV. He ignores the quick pass to the unmarked wingers or Winks and somehow ends up being pressed and passing back only for the keeper to boot it out and we lose possession. I think VK made the only overlap but Fatawu was in greedy mode trying to skin 3 players as he was expected to do everything on his own all game. Thomas is useless and provides little other than a pass back without even trying to pass to Mavadidi, then he throws his arms in the air asking for the ball again. Soumare made a few turns in the first half and passed forwards but then slipped back into his no look pass backwards and sideways for the rest of the game. Ayew stinks out any attack and drifts into areas he doesn’t need to. The manager hasn’t improved any players, the only thing he has done is given a wonder kid a chance. The players are obsessed with passing constantly in congested areas and then standing back to watch our wingers do everything yet produce little.
-
Sadly I think we are seeing the best he can do with his knowledge and tactics. Poor decisions again from the start, this time making them worse at half time. Nor sure what his tactics are or style of play. It feels like he’s letting the CBs do what they want and make the same mistakes they have for the last 4 years. They control the tempo, put others under pressure and when they release the ball it’s into congested areas. He hasn’t got much in the way of attack apart from pass to the wingers. This has made them greedy and do everything because that’s what is expected of them. Slow out the back, high line with our slowest and weakest defender. An obsession with Ayew.
-
Another game wasted by poor selection by another milquetoast manager. Can’t get them playing as a team but repeats the same every week.
-
Not sure what Marti spends all week doing.
-
And it’s always the weakest and slowest cb that gets caught out constantly.
-
Watch Soumare put a player between himself and whoever has the ball. He marks himself out of a pass.
-
Along with JV killing any attacking momentum. He would rather, under no pressure, ignore the first time pass to Fatawu and pass between each other until they get pressed and send it long to lose in a congested area. Do we have to waste another season while another manager does nothing to improve them.
-
CBs stinking it out with the slow walking football to blast the ball to Ayew or Soumare to pass back. Thomas is such a boring player, needs to pass forwards instead of back or to Soumare.
-
Yet the tanker can drift high up and get caught out every game.
-
Clown show
-
About a goal a game.
-
We can critique a manager who is making the same mistakes every week, just like Cooper and Ruud. It’s foreshadowing just like with the last two clowns. I won’t be convinced of him until we get rid of Soumare and Ayew and batter a team in the first half of a game.
-
I don’t think the manager has any actual attacking tactics. He hasn’t shown anything other than pass the ball to winger and everyone else stand back. The manager is allowing Ayew to play this way. He’s setting the team up with the bottleneck. The same with keeping Soumare in the middle and Thomas at LB.
