I’ve just watched the goal again several times on the YouTube highlights. It’s incredible how many options he had. His first touch he could’ve passed to Winks to make the quick pass to Ayew, Bilal and Soumare were also open. He stutters and turns back twisting where he had two chances to lump it, Coady calls for it and the Keeper is open for the pass as well. After the short pass to Ayew, the attempted challenge is just as absurd, he could’ve fouled the player or tried to block rather than some weird jump around the back as he’s passing by.
-
It was a perfect pass, he could’ve aimed anywhere but it went to the player unmarked a few metres away.

Complete failure of the basics every week. It’s beyond confidence, he’s just thick. He had more than enough time when he first got the ball to boot it forwards, he does his usual stop and turn then has several more chances to clear it but doesn’t. Also didn’t help that the option he was so blinkered on reaching, Ayew was standing still. You could tell from his body shape he was looking to fall over for a foul but the Villa players are just sharper and smarter. Compare it to the clearance from Matty Cash at the end, boot out no nonsense.
-
And he’ll make the same mistakes in defence and attack. Sad.
-
He stinks out any attack he gets involved in and constantly makes basic mistakes causing us goals. He’s not even a milquetoast nothing player but actively costs us points. Offers nothing anymore, not even worth it as a squad player.

He had longer on the ball before the start of the clip. -

I don’t feel sorry for JJ at all. He didn’t have a head injury. -

It’s even worse as he wasn’t under pressure to start with, could’ve cleared it several times but turned back and sent it into danger. How can he be so brain dead every game. -

JJ had one thing to do, boot it first time. It’s like he was playing as a winger for them, they way he weaved and passed it back. -

I can’t wait to not see JJ in this side again. So many times he stinks attacks out by carrying the ball into their half, unmarked ahead but he stops and passes back. He can’t help himself making useless decisions -

It’s more frustrating he didn’t even hit the target and force a save. -

Our players would differ and send it backwards or look to fall over. -

Headed clearance from a player under no pressure to the player unmarked in a perfect shooting position. -

He doesn’t seem to want to bring others in the game. He always ignores the overlapping player and sends it back or gives it away. I want to see him getting the ball higher up the pitch so he can get a chance to shoot. -

And getting their players to actually press quickly and carry on till they get to the player to put them off or make a tackle as opposed to jogging and stopping 2 metres away. -
He would be the answer to one of the many problems. Someone in midfield that will actually track runners, press and tackle as well as driving forwards, looking to send the attackers in higher up the pitch. This sort of player would help reduce the pressure on the defence.

It’s easy for the prem to use their proxies in the press to cause issues and attempt to derail the transfer window. They did it at the start of the season, now at it again. They could’ve said this weeks ago but timed it perfectly. The language is loaded and vague to stir up discontent and will be echoed by other brain dead fans online.

Okoli wasn’t too bad in defence, he certainly didn’t make errors like our so called experienced CBs. Cooper was starting the attacks out of the back with Okoli rather than Faes and he wasn’t up to speed so gave the ball away too often.

Just checked back on what Eric Dier got for jumping into the crowd a few seasons ago. 4 games and £40k fine from the FA website, “An independent Regulatory Commission subsequently found Eric Dier’s actions to be threatening and its written reasons for the decision and sanction can be accessed below.” Yet actual physical violence is less.

Straw man argument to play the contrarian. I wouldn’t really compare a poor performance from an aging club legend to a young midfielder who makes the same mistakes constantly. Of course I focus on his bad as that is having more of an impact on the team and results than a bombing run every game. Apart from the assist against Ipswich, he has provided little to no value in all his time here.
-
The bad outweigh the few good runs he makes. Brain dead player in a defensive role. It’s strange as when he bombs forward players bounce off him, when he attempts to defend he barely stops an attack and is lightweight. He doesn’t close down, track or tackle, something we need more than him carrying the ball. many times he will run with a player in midfield then just peel away leaving them to carry on the attack or cross. The last three games he’s been at fault for goals, either leaving a man unmarked to follow the ball when he doesn’t need to or like the Salah goal, catches up then stops and watches him shoot when he could’ve carried on and made a tackle or rush his shot. We need someone like KDH who can actually use his brain in midfield.
-
Play like this against the dross, along with a few new signings and we start to turn it around.
-
I wish he would pass it forward to the player overlapping in space. He’s currently more negative than Justin in attack.
