Exactly this. Ruud isn’t going to fix the same mistakes that the players have been making all season. I’m not sure he’ll take Bilal off again and put Ayew there and Facundo on the right. JJ poor positioning and lack of commitment in the tackle, his late reaction trying to block will keep the player onside. Soumare with his weekend couch to 5k jog, watching their midfielders pass by even though they are a metre away from him. Ayew falling over trying to win fouls when a pass forward would be better or stopping and passing backwards as he can’t run. Vestagaard being outmuscled and Faes pratting about. Mav slowing down most attacks to do 5 step overs and kick the ball against the players shins all while VK has bombed forward into space. This leaves the counter open down our left.
-
The last game he was given a chance with Skipp and he didn’t make a single tackle.
-
Were those doing the internal review reviewing themselves? That would be why the same errors keep getting repeated.
-
He was injured when we bought him, got his surgery and then barely played him. Waste of time, resources and money in the end. I liked the look of him, he seemed to always be able to at least shoot at the goal as opposed to wide like our current crop of forwards.
-
Many problems in defence arise from him not doing the basics in midfield and cbs get caught out because they don’t expect someone to walk through with ease. But he runs forward a few times a game holding onto the ball for too long and nothing comes from it.
-
I think we are desperate for one of our midfielders to even show an interest in defending. A better DM would help the clown show at the back. RW, ST & DM.
-
Hopefully the defence and midfield just avoid passing to JJ and Ayew because it will just get sent backwards anyway. Another Soumare pressing masterclass.
-
The problem is Soumare offers no protection in midfield and has zero urgency or awareness . The first goal could’ve be stopped in midfield if he hadn’t stood around watching the player run forwards and helped BEK out. His negatives have more impact on our results than the positives.

We have gone down hill in midfield since Wilf’s injury. While he is improving going forward, he has zero awareness on the pitch or instincts and that is costing us goals. For the first goal he stood and watched the player run through the midfield. If he walked forward he would’ve blocked his lane. He only started jogging then gave up when he passed by. Brain dead player at times. -
He can do so much more in the games. It’s frustrating watching him slow down then gravitate towards a group of players to try and skin them. He creates his own problems. He’s a selfish player, if he actually passed to the player overlapping he’d get the return pass and be in a position to shoot.

Our midfield is so weak and are happy to avoid making a tackle apart from Bilal. The first goal could’ve been avoided if Soumare hadn’t just stood around and watched then sprung into a light jog when the player was passing by. He could’ve cut off his lane, fouled him or tackled. We never seem to do tactical fouls but happily give away stupid 50/50 fouls in dangerous areas like the second goal. Physically weak players. The defence isn’t great but the lack of midfield actually doing anything apart from watching doesn’t help. It’s sad to see Vardy like how he is but it’s to be expected of someone of his age and career length at the top. I felt we were playing some good football on the first half before the defence started playing Rodgers ball and killing any momentum. Once they got that out of their system the pace picked up. Mavadidi doesn’t realise it’s a team game and seems reluctant to bring anyone else into the game. Facoundo was trying too hard to do everything when he picked up the ball deep. -
What is annoying is he could’ve had a good game if he actually passed the ball to players in space to receive the 1-2. He can’t help but get the ball, slow down and walk into a group of players. Our wide attacks are limited because of the personal, Mav is selfish and JJ is scared to attempt to take anyone. I was half expecting his free kick to be sent backwards.
-
Not a team player and not smart enough to realise how valuable and useful he could actually be.
-
Soumare standing still watching a player run towards him by before he runs behind him.
-
The same with Mav, he’s not good enough to be a lone wolf. If he brought others into the game when they are open then he would be a better player. He’s allergic to passing the ball to someone on the over lap
-
Playing better and look like we have a plan. Much better when the defence aren’t slowing it down and putting themselves at risk . The young lads need to start working together, they don’t need to do it all themselves. Soumare needs to switch his brain back on, too many short passes where he doesn’t look.

I know we are desperate for a right winger but not some Luton reject. Football for many is an escape, not really a place for politics whatever side you believe. -
IMO the football is “better” under Ruud and the players look like they have a bit more fight and an idea. The players that were terrible under Cooper are still making the same mistakes under Ruud. They can practice all week but it’s out of his hands if JJ does JJ, Soumare jogs around not closing anyone down, Vardy misses what you would expect someone of his ability and legend to score and Ayew falls over or gives the ball away every attack. Cooper wasted the players that are now injured by not using them, Ruud is missing out on Fatawu, Mads, Ndidi & Ricardo. TLDR, still at the bottom and doesn’t look good.
-
And Cooper chose to put Ayew against him rather than Fatawu.
-
That’s true, but we wouldn’t be punished constantly for it. It feels like there should be some sort of amnesty for clubs to get their house in order, rather than destroying them with punishments which seem to just compound. Chelsea can spend billions and sell their own property to themselves and that’s fine but we can’t be a few million over yet the owners have the funds to back it all up.
-
That’s because they start so deep and Soumare ends up too close to Winks, he also seems unwilling to turn with the ball and blasts the short pass back too often. He’s frustrating as players bounce off him when he’s attacking but in defence he’s weak and doesn’t seem to have much awareness or urgency. If we had a midfielder breaking up play and pressing we could have more loose balls and start higher up the pitch and also feed balls into space for him to attack. This would also benefit Mavadidi but his main problem is he won’t attempt to run at players or even pass on the overlap.
-
Our midfield is so light weight, Bilal is the only one that chases and makes a tackle. The press Villa had compared to ours what night and day. Our players stop two metres away and let the opposition pass and shoot, Villa would close down and keep chasing until we made a mistake, like the second goal. KDH will press and be a presence as well as progress the ball quickly. Soumare upgrade by a mile.

Are you sure you’re watching the highlights of the game against Villa? 1:23 is the 2nd Villa goal.
