  1. Completely agree, you have to say that at that time with our budget and sqaud, to win 2 cups, get to 3 finals and finish too 10 in the prem every season, and win at Anfield, old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, maine Road etc was punching well above our weight. We had grafters but we had quality too which was under rated, Izzet, Lennon and Guppy were fantastic players and can't believe some are dismissing them for the current crop.
  2. Along with the Maguire one, the preki one and the Maynard one
  3. You're missing the point completely. The question was about a midfield which played together for a number of years in the Premier league, Lennon, Izzet, Savage and Guppy. It was a different era for starters but we've not had a midfield play at the top level together for 4 or 5 years. The midfield now is largely young players at the beginning of their careers, so how there can be people saying they are better than legends like Izzet or lennon I don't know. A lot of people seem to think because we had one miracle season that staying consistently in the top 10 (top 8 1 season) is somehow much less of a feat. We had literally no money, a ramshackle small ground and yet for 5 years upset the big boys won 2 cups, it was brilliant. To disregard these legends for the current crop is naive and very hasty. Morgan, Kasper, Vardy, Fuchs etc will go down in folklore for their service through ups and downs, but to say 21 year old midfielders in their 2nd or 3rd seasons are better than Izzet lennon etc is daft.
  4. I literally had forgot all about Daniel Amartey
  5. It's like Fabregas was classed as homegrown, its based on how many years you've played in that country.
  6. No its not mate it's just 10 years service as a class goal scoring midfielder, a leader and all round legend. Like I said if Maddison stays anywhere near that long and has the same impact on the club then he can be talked about in the same breath. Izzet is a club legend, its not blue tinted specs to realise that. Did you watch the late 90s team at all? Genuine question.
  7. Ah yeah sorry Elleray was Swindon play off??
  8. Keegan ignored izzet for over a year, in another era izzet would have played for England. Also we had Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham etc at the time. Can't help but think Maddison will jump ship to united city or Liverpool given half a chance, he loves himself. No doubting a great talent but izzet was aswell.
  9. Cannot believe you said this. Maddison is a great talent, but Izzet only half his talent? Either you have a short memory or didn't see Muzzy play mate because in nearly 10 years at the club Izzet was a class above. In the late 90s he was one of the best goalscoring mids in the prem, then he was the best player by a million miles in div 1 in the administration season. He was a leader, loyal, and an incredibly gifted player. Maddison Can be better than him in the years to come but to say Izzet has half his talent is ridiculous. That o Neill team had guts and underrated ability. Heskey, Izzet, Lennon, Guppy were terrific players at the time, signed for peanuts by a genius who got us from 12th in div 1 to 9th in prem and Cup winners in 1 year. To stay in the prem top 10 on an absolute shoe string was a great achievement which shouldn't be understated. Just because we won the league in a miracle season doesn't mean the o Neill team was shite. Rant over.
  10. Different era, think the prem is quicker and better now, maybe Lennon and Sav would have struggled in today's game, or would they adapt? So hard to compare. Also we had a really settled midfield for a few years. Lennon Sav and Izzet were a trio for a good 4 years. Here we have Ndidi, Tielemans, Hamza and Madders who chop and change so again hard to compare. I doubt there will be many midfielders in our history like Muzzy Izzet, who not only provided real class in the O Neill years, but also stayed through all the crap too until he literally had to be sold. If Madders ends up staying for nearly ten years even if we went down, only then he would end up in the same bracket which is nigh on 100% not going to happen. Consecutive top 10 finishes on a shoestring each year was a great achievement don't care what anyone says and I grew up with the likes of Elliott, taggart, lennon, claridge, Izzet etc who will always be heroes in my book, just like the recent batch of Vardy, Morgan, Kasper always will be.
  11. I was about 10 years old and I'm now 32, and I still don't think I've ever been as angry as when this penalty was given. Honestly thought we were such a great cup team we were going to win the league Cup and FA Cup that season. If not for Elleray we probably would have.
  12. Wow calm down. I was merely talking about one player (Rowett) and stating a fact that 3 quarters of the season wasn't actually a massive car crash, we beat Liverpool and Chelsea at home after Christmas where Rowett was instrumental (scored in one I believe) The end of the season was shocking and a sign of things to come but Rowett was decent.
  13. Yeah he joined half way through a terrible season, but always gave his all and helped us win league one with vital winning goals (off the top of my head Millwall away and Leeds home) Then helped us reach the play offs the following season.
  14. In Taylors first season when we were top 4 until April, Rowett had a great season to be fair. His signings were dreadful and he was the beginning of the end, but Rowett was good in that first season.
  15. God that Walsh own goal was incredible. It went about a mile in the air and dropped under the bar couldn't have done it again if he tried.
  16. To be fair to this team Steve Howard was a legend in a dark time as was Oakley. Mcauley was quality and Stearman was a god academy product who only left as we needed the money to sell him. I literally forgot about David Bell.
  17. I thought finally this year my luck was in. Sterling captain week 1 hat trick Pukki captain week 2 hat trick, but then this week transferred out Richarlison, Tielemans and Bernardo Silva who all scored 🙄🙄 made the mistake i make every year of messing with my team too much. Still top of the league by 5 points but doubt it will last.
  18. I'd literally only take an inform Pogba from their entire line up over ours. If Palace can win there we can destroy them. Go with a positive line up and attack them. I hope and pray Vardy is in the same form he was yesterday against Maguire because that will be worth watching.
  19. 😂😂 I'm under no illusions mate, I'm sure I won't be there long. I had an absolute nightmare this week, subbed out Tielemans, Richarlison and Bernardo who all scored. De Bruyne saved me from being totally screwed.
  20. I'm top of the league. That is all.
  21. The thing is Bournemouth are rare. They are a team who try and win every game, they never win ugly and dig in, they only know how to okay open expansive attacking football, so we loved it today. Most teams will come with two banks of 4, even wolves played with 8 or 9 behind the ball, and we will still have to work hard to win tight games. That being said it was an enjoyable game, Vardy was amazing, Soyuncu was incredible, Albrighton was either drunk, concussed or both.
  22. And he did his best to **** up every attack but luckily got subbed then we played better.
  23. I'm watching Sky Sports news and they showing chances and goals as they go in, it's the best bet I think.
  24. This is actual Anderson Perry Maguire thread standard only on foxestalk pure gold. People are sitting there watching some Iranian blokes do exercise, believing at some point a HD stream is going to pop up.
  25. Fook the radio, its on talksport, this ain't 1952 we want a bleddy picture
