I think calling them hoof balls is a little harsh. They were diagonals out to the winger which most of the time found their man. Koln were set up well defensively and Skipp and Winks are not good enough to turn out from the press so we weren't afforded many options other than to go longer.

Yeah I think its midfield where the issue ultimately lies. None of them are remotely creative, there's no real top level athleticism from any of them so what do they really offer? KDH really was the difference maker two seasons ago. He wasn't the most technical but he was a goddamn workhorse who could get box to box. We have no one like that at the moment

Creativity still seems like a massive issue.

Missed their two goals but we've looked decent since I turned it on. Seem to be carrying some attacking threat. Ayew looks ok dropping deep and letting runners go beyond him

I can see Ayew leading the line this season. He isnt much of an athlete, but he is good in tight spaces, surround him with fast wingers and attack mids (Fatawu/Mavididi/Monga/Mcateer) and I think he can come good at this level.

Makes you wonder if Aluko and JJ junior will get game time this season as they are both very mobile and athletic and will be able to cover for some of our less than mobile defenders...

Best thing about that half was the new kit

He genuinely has no control over what his body does, does he?

Absolutely love when people continually melt down over pre season games. Even more so when its the first one

Evans, Aluko and Monga really don't look out of place at all trainers with the first teamers. Really nice too see. I wouldn't be surprised to see Monga and Evans ahead of Alves in the pecking order come the start of the season.

Caleb looks like an athlete and a monster from that video. Really hope we can unlock his footballing potential this season.

Gerrimin. Technically very average but has a motor and tries hard. Would be fine in the Championship
