  1. Saw a rat in the garden today, big enough to explain why two rat traps have simply disappeared. Took them away to give his mates a laugh, presumably. I will kill him
  2. I'm glad to hear at least someone isn't crushed with disappointment. I've given up on earphones, I'm going to try and get my kicks from the air fryer that's being delivered tomorrow
  3. These were on the radar, as they get pretty good reviews. I have to say I'm more than a bit sceptical when it comes to reviews of wireless headphones though as it feels they should be saying these are AMAZING....for wireless headphones. I read a user review of mine that said they were so much better than his Air Pod Pros, which just made me think, how much of a rip off were they? I blame Dr Dre for normalising spending a fortune on average quality kit
  4. I think the question we should be asking is, is it as good as Ryan Giggs poetry about his lover or Lewis Hamilton's about Princess Diana as for me these represent the pinnacle of human achievement and I struggle to get excited about anything else if I'm honest
  5. Coming to it two years late (actually quite quick for me) but crikey I love Colin From Accounts
  6. The curiously named Nothing Ear A. Based on reviews it was a toss up between them and the Sony WF-C700s, went for these as they had been more expensive and also available in yellow so might be slightly harder to lose. I'm warming to the sound a little, and the technology is impressive. It does boil my piss a bit though that the most expensive earphones I've ever bought by miles aren't the best sounding, but hey, that's wireless for you
  7. I've bought some wireless earbuds, a purchase made under at least partial duress. Entirely predictably they sound slightly shitter than the wired ones they're replacing, despite costing more than twice as much
  8. Me too! It all worked seamlessly so I got away with not looking too bad
  9. Presale for tickets tomorrow. I'm going to have to excuse myself from a fairly important meeting in a highly unprofessional way at 10.00 am
  10. With reference to the earlier story about the Australian builder being bitten on his knob by a black widow spider in a portaloo on two separate occasions, does anyone know if that species does generally attack the penis? I'm guessing not because with 2000 black widow bites in Australia annually, I'd have thought that if a high proportion of these were on the cock we'd hear more about it, or maybe it's got to the point it's so endemic it's just not seen as a big deal anymore. As usual it's me that has to try and find out the facts
  11. Although it was still good, that's probably the least special time I've seen them so that's not the biggest loss. They padded out the setlist mainly with B sides from around the time that album was out and although some of those are pretty strong, it did lose the crowd a bit at times. At Warwick Castle this year it was much better as it was basically PTL plus stuff from the other albums. Have you listened to the new single? It's ridiculous, for a change, and great, of course
  12. Can highly recommend. I'm in the presale, and I'd suggest not waiting around too long as their popularity has increased a lot the last couple of years (I think because of his YouTube stuff) and their gigs now seem to sell out and quite quickly now
  13. Have we really got this far in without mentioning this guy? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-37481251.amp My niece went to live in Australia for a few months recently and I wanted her to ask if this is constantly at the back of the mind of all Australians; I mean, I think about it a fair bit and I don't even live there. Naturally I forgot, so I'm none the wiser, but she did say on her return that she didn't see a single spider in all the time she was there
  14. Why, the new Darkness single OF COURSE
  15. Might try and get tickets for Supergrass at Rock City next year. I'm sure I've seen them there before but I can't actually remember
  16. Had a smallish one run down my arm in bed the other night, and whilst I admit to leaping up pretty much instantaneously, then locating and squashing it, felt surprisingly zen about the whole thing. I think my brain was going 'well there WAS a goddamn spider in my bed, it's now been crushed into its component atoms and what's the chances of there being two in there?
  17. The more you ignore him, the more racist he gets
  18. I've never really been that arsed by what Morrissey says and the time when loads of punters and journos hung on his every word ended about three and a half decades ago. I'm struggling to think of anyone with dodgy views who has been less effective at using them to influence the public conversation. Remember when he endorsed For Britain? They subsequently managed to get a total of about 600 votes across 4 by-elections and have since been dissolved through lack of interest. There are racist lichen on rocks in Iceland that more people sit up and listen to when they belch out some balls about Sadiq Khan
  19. I think it could give the surviving members a run for their money, in era appropriate venues for much closer to era appropriate prices. Also, not having a 65 year old frontman who increasingly looks older than he is might give them the edge. I never saw the Smiths live, the closest thing I got to was seeing Morrissey on his first solo tour, and whilst it was fantastic and a near riot, I'm not sure anybody there was dwelling on the artistic meaning (his band were a bit shite at the time to be honest)
  20. Struggling to think of any incarnation of The Smiths they could put on stage that wouldn't be shite. There's tons of good footage online now of them at their peak and there's no way on earth it would be remotely like that, is there? Go and see a tribute band in a small venue. I saw The Stone Roses at the arse end of their career and a Stone Roses tribute band around the same time at The Charlotte and the latter was about 10 times more fun. This is not a hot take, it wasn't even close
  21. I completely feel this. Never understood its appeal. Whilst I don't absolutely hate the song itself, I've been similarly bewildered by the praise heaped upon Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy, which ridiculously makes me like it less than I would otherwise
  22. Another 56 minute 10k. Feels hard work at the minute, getting under 9 minute miles, a piece of piss earlier in the year, is proving tricky
  23. We've had two for ages, and one is fine and the other is a waste of space as it hardly ever works and I still have to do manual meter readings, which I hate as it involves braving spider cupboard and hauling out half of the shite that's stored in there. My father-in-law feels strongly about a lot of things but especially about smart meters although I've never worked out why. My best guess is that the utility providers can quietly cut you off remotely if you don't pay the bills, and he much prefers the possibility of bailiffs doing some sort of forced entry about which he can make a massive fuss
  24. The compilation title and artwork are an affront in themselves, I'd have blocked it
  25. Not sure my family would like me to be encouraging them. Saw a Scarlet Tiger earlier this year, that was ace too
